On this podcast Maanda Tshifularo (SuperLead CEO) interviewed Mixo Ngoveni. Mixo is the Founder and CEO of Geekulcha, a Tech entrepreneur and Tech Advocate. He is also a member of TedxPretoria. Mixo represented the Tshwane University of Technology at the Microsoft Imagine Cup local finals and was selected as one of six Microsoft Student Partners in South Africa.

Mixo was nominated as one of Tomorrow’s Leaders by SAINE, became one of 30 Youth Villages Most Inspirational Young South Africans, he is one of the Sowetan Top 100 Young Bosses in South Africa for 2015 & 2016, the Mail and Guardian’s Top 200 Young South Africans for 2015, Top 100 Superbalist, HTXT Africa’s Top 10 Young South African’s in Tech and Youth Village Top 30Under30 Young Inspiring Africans, and he is one of the 2017 IITPSA IT Personality of the Year Finalist.

On this interview, Mixo talks about his childhood and his keen interest for entrepreneurship. He shares how representing the Tshwane University of Technology at the Microsoft Imagine Cup local finals opened his eyes to a whole new world that he was previously not exposed to. He demonstrated leadership by making it his mission not only to learn as much as he could, but also to share the knowledge with others who did not have access to it. This became the journey that led him to founding Geekulcha which has gone on to have a positive impact on many more young people and the tech industry

Mike is the founder at Masimong Group Holdings, a diversified investment holding company. He is also the Chair of Council at the University of Johannesburg (UJ), currently sits on various boards. Mike is formerly the founding CEO of Optimum Coal and has also served as the president of Chamber of Mines

Muzi is an author of multiple books and a director at South Africa’s Promise. He has similarly served in various boards and was CEO at TBWA as well as Ignitive marketing agency.

On this podcast Maanda Tshifularo (SuperLead CEO) interviewed Mukundi Lambani, who is founder and director at Ambani Africa, an education technology company, that offers an accessible platform for Africa’s foundation phase learners to learn their mother-tongue. Mukundi who has master’s degree in Communication and Media Studies from Bournemouth University, was inspired to create the app after realising that her peers who were starting their families were worried that their children would grow up not knowing their home language. The first version of the app was only released in January 2021 but it has gone to win various awards including the MTN App of the Year 2021, the IDF / IM IN Demo Day 2021, and the TIA Swiss-SA 2021 award.

On this interview, Mukundi shares how her personal experience led her to starting Amabani Africa and addresses some of the challenges she faced with bringing it to the market, not only because of the different skills needed but also having to lead a virtual team through the pandemic. On this podcast Maanda Tshifularo (SuperLead CEO) interviewed Noluvuyo Gqadu who is the founder of CodeNgwana, an organisation that is focused on teaching children from disadvantaged areas how to code. Noluvuyo is an award-winning technology professional, notably one of the 2021 Mail n Guardian 200 Young South Africans. She has written stories about technology for kids and has published three books, including a coding encyclopaedia that has been translated into isiXhosa and Setswana. She is involved in numerous initiatives aimed at closing the digital divide. Most recently, she helped translate the MIT Scratch Junior curriculum into isiXhosa. She holds a Master in Information Systems degree from UCT. On this interview, Noluvuyo talks about how her passion for solving social issues through technology led to the birth of CodeNgwana.
