We are re-watching the Sam Raimi Spider-Man trilogy! Listen in as we talk about some cool things about the first movie you might not know about. (the audio issue has been fixed)

Show notes…

There are a lot of cool facts about the filming of the first movie. Some of it is absolutely wild.

The most important thing about Spider-man is web swinging, and Raimi got that right from the jump.

Spider-Man came out at the perfect time. Even though the X-men and Blade gave Hollywood a blueprint, Spider-Man showed that there was real money in super-hero movies.

Jarvis has wanted to tell y’all about Kang for a long time. He’s been getting ready ever since we saw Kang appear as He Who Remains in the Loki series. Now he’s letting it all out so that you’re prepped for Ant-Man and the Wasp: Quantumania!

Show notes…

In the comics, Kang the Conqueror is a descendent of Reed Richards and has entanglements with many many characters in the Marvel universe.

Rama Tut is over 70 years old chronologically but appears to be a man in his 40’s thanks to his futuristic technology much like He Who Remains in the Loki series.

The Scarlet Centurion once tried to kill Captain America and Bucky Barnes with a bomb rigged drone plan.

Immortus once became an ally of the Avengers as part of the Infinity War.

Iron Lad is a younger version of Nathaniel Richards that didn’t want to become evil and became a young version of Iron Man and formed the Young Avengers.

You really need to watch this scene with Kang from the Loki series before watching Ant-Man and the Wasp: Quantumania unless they start doing previously-on’s for their movies.

Join us as we discuss the best decisions the MCU made when making their very successful money making movies. Jarvis has a really good best best decision but Mike thinks he topped it.

Show notes…

Jarvis’s best are...

Making amazing casting decisions like Chris Evans as Captain America and Tom Holland as Spider-Man.

Making the tv shows a priority and connected to the MCU movies.

Making Infinity War happen.

Ignoring the critics and doing what they thought was right.

Making the Sony/Spider-Man deal happen.

Casting Robert Downey Jr. as Ironman, Chris Evans as Captain America, Paul Rudd as Ant-Man, Scarlett Johansson as Black Widow, Florence Pugh as Yelena, and Iman Vellani as Ms. Marvel.

Putting Rocket Raccoon into the universe. Everyone loves him.

Doing Guardians of the Galaxy – completely unknown characters with an interesting director.

Making a Loki series. Who asked for a Loki series? No one! But it was great!

Getting the MCU started with Jon Favreau & Robert Downey Jr.

Creative differences with Edgar Wright

Ego as the villain of Guardians of the Galaxy, Vol. 2

Release timing of Black Widow

Picking Shuri as the next Black Panther

Aether (a liquid) in Thor: The Dark World being the Reality Stone (a stone)

Jarvis’s worst are...

The Stupidification of the Guardians of the Galaxy.

Hulk's lazy origin in the MCU.

The wreaking of the Infinity Gems and the lack of Adam Warlock in Infinity War.

Thor: Love and Thunder. The whole thing.

Waiting to introduce the Fantastic Four and the X-men.

Hear about Mantis and Starlord’s relationship from the comics and what Jarvis thinks of the new thick Groot we see in the Holiday Special!

Show notes…

The Guardians bought Knowhere from the Collector. This “sort of” happens in the comics. And it might set up something interesting for the next movie.

Jarvis thinks Volume 3 might be inspired by the To Guard the Galaxy storyline from the comics.

In the comics, Cosmo is the constable of Knowhere.

Mantis is Peter Quill’s sister! This is no where near anything from the comics. Not even close. She’s actually human!

Lots of questions about Namor and the Talokanil are answered in this podcast about Black Panther: Wakanda Forever. We also talk about mutants, Ironheart, Midnight Angels, Val & Ross, as well as the mid-credits scene.

Show notes…

Namor: In the comics, he rules Atlantis. In the movie, it’s much different. He is the ruler of Talokan and the Talokanil.

https://marvel.fandom.com/wiki/Namor_McKenzie_(Earth-616)

Namora: Namor’s cousin! The movie doesn’t make the relationship clear, and she doesn’t have the powers that she does in the comics.

https://marvel.fandom.com/wiki/Aquaria_Neptunia_(Earth-616)

Riri: IRON HEART! She’s new to the MCU but she’s been around in the comics for about 8 years, which is new for the comics. Lots of story potential with her, and she has connections to the Ten Rings.

https://marvel.fandom.com/wiki/Riri_Williams_(Earth-616)

Aneka: In the comics. It’s actually a pretty cool story.

https://marvel.fandom.com/wiki/Aneka_(Earth-616)

Midnight Angels: Not a lot to it. It’s special Wakandan battle armor used in the Doomwar.

https://marvel.fandom.com/wiki/Midnight_Angel_Armor

Everett Ross: We’ve talked about him before, and he has a long history of working with the Wakandans. Pretty good movie to comic translation here.

https://marvel.fandom.com/wiki/Everett_Ross_(Earth-616)

Val: A different character in the comics than the movies, but you should expect some nasty things to come from her, especially with the Thunderbolts movie coming up.
