Show notes.
Shout out to the show for highlighting the importance of literature, especially poetry. You should read all of Raymond Carver’s poem.
Also, we have to note the double entendre of the word “Beloved” in relation to two Black actors discussing poetry.
I have some serious issues with the “attack” on the President, but Talos being killed was both sad and uninteresting at the same time. (Fun fact! In the comics, Talos is one of the few Skrulls that cannot shape-shift).
We learn that Gravik is searching for “The Harvest,” which is a collection of DNA from Avengers: Endgame. Letting the Skrulls have that would be…bad.
We know that James Rhodes, the REAL Rhodey, is going to come out of all this somehow….
But, the upcoming Armor Wars is going to be a lot different than the comics.

New THE MARVELS trailer! We can’t wait to watch this… in November.

Yes, Super-Skrulls are in the comics. Well, I mean, mainly one Super-Skrull.
We’ve actually had other Super-Skrulls. During the Secret Invasion comic run, more Skrulls became “Super.”
And it looks like Gravik has gotten some Extremis abilities!

Benedict Cumberbatch is maybe making another Dr. Strange! I mean, didn’t we know that?
And The Marvels and Secret Invasion are linked! I guess. Somehow.

Nick Fury is married. To a Skrull.
There are 1 million Skrulls on Earth, and they've been here for at least 5 years. They are in every branch of every government in the world. There was a mission of a Skrull colony ruled by a Skrull Empress. We'll get to that.
Rhodey is back! And, I mean, he's a little bit of a jerk.
Did we mention that Nick Fury is married to a Skrull! But, in the comics, being married to a Skrull isn't that unusal.
Oh, and it looks like Skrulls are going to get some super powers. Or, at least that's what they are trying to do.

Nick Fury has been hanging out on S.A.B.E.R, a space station designed to protect Earth from Space threats. It's based on the organization S.W.O.R.D. It's a whole thing.
Talos is from the comics, but the MCU version is much better and far more in-depth.
Yes, G'iah is from the comics, but this is a totally different version of her.
In the comics, this all started when the Illuminati (Black Bolt, Namor, Reed Richards, Professor X and Iron Man) went to the Skrull homeworld and destroyed their capital city. The Skrulls were, uh, not happy about that.
In the comics, Skrulls can be easily detected. They had to motify themselves in order to go undetected by humans. The same concept is happening in this show. Fun Fact: there were tons of Skrulls in Marvel Comics for years but they didn't know they were Skrulls. Could characters in the MCU that we've loved for so long be Skrulls? Who knows!

We all knew that Wolverine would get a stand-alone movie. But we didn’t know that it would be this awful. But does Mike agree with Jarvis that Wolverine’s solo mission is bad? I can’t think of anyone with more of complicated comic background than Wolverine.
Some of the movie is based on the original comic.
Yes, Logan really was born with bone claws, as revealed a long time ago.
No, Logan and Sabretooth are not brothers.
Yes, Weapon X is a whole thing. No, Weapon XI is not.

X-Men: The Last Stand wasn’t as bad as Mike remembers is being, so he asks Jarvis to explain why it’s so bad. And it has a lot to do with how this X-Men movie is more like the cartoon than the comics. Plus, it’s just not very good. But maybe it isn’t horrible.

Is this movie the best Spider-Man movie ever made? Are super-hero movies a tangled mess of elaborate story telling? Will Mike and Jarvis agree about anything? Will they stop making these movies so long? All these questions and more as Super Sideshow podcast rants and raves about Spider-Man: Across the Spider-Verse!

There are way, way too many great voice actors in this movie.
One of the biggest concepts that the movie works with is Miles Morales. Even in the comics, Miles is unique among all the variations of Spider-Man. It’s not just his ethnicity, but the fact that he is well outside the story telling connections of Peter Parker.
The same is true of Miguel O’Hare, who was also created outside of the Peter Parker mythos. Note: Miguel O’Hare is not as “intense” as this movie portrays him. And Lyla is from the comics, too. Shout out to my man Peter David.
Yes, the Spider-Verse is a “thing.” This movie did a great job combining the MCU’s overall idea of a Multiverse with the Spider-Verse. (I hope you guys caught the Earth-199999 reference)
Brilliant work with the Spot.

Show notes.
In the comics, Nightcrawler is the child of Mystique and was given up by his mother. He was informally adopted by a Romani queen and was raised in a traveling circus–not the Munich circus as in the movies.
Lady Deathstrike is a cyborg with a mechanized body and Adamantium claws in the comics. She originated in Japan and has an irrational hatred of Wolverine which led her to America and association with William Stryker.
William Stryker was a sergeant in the army and is associated with the Weapon X program that gave Wolverine his Adamantium skeleton. He has a very dark origin story that led to his own irrational hatred of Professor X.
Mastermind is not the son of William Stryker. He was recruited away from a carnival into the Brotherhood of Evil Mutants by Magneto. In the Brotherhood, his teammates were Toad, Scarlet Witch, and Quicksilver.

Rocket Raccoon is the heart of this movie and the new leader of the Guardians in the MCU. He has one of the best tactical minds in the galaxy.
Adam Warlock has been a member of the Guardians of the Galaxy and Avengers at different times. He also played a critical role in defeating Thanos.
High Evolutionary has a lot more to do with Adam Warlock than Rocket Raccoon in the comics.
