Even though the world hates and fears them for their mutant abilities, the XMen risk their lives for the good of mankind. Black people can feel their pain. We have voluntarily died in wars for this country, endured slavery and segregation and at every conceivable moment we have rushed to defend this land. How does a race of powerful people navigate a society that appears bent on their oppression? You don't have to have Xavier's telepathy to sense the fear and anger that is brewing in our every changing country.

Wonder Woman, Storm, Zatanna, Emma Frost are some of the most formidable characters in all of comicdom. Often they are juxtaposed next to less powerful male heroes  and burdened with ridiculous limits on their abilities. The same could be said of American Politics, particularly about Black women.  

In comics when a female character discovers her powers and the depth of them they are sometimes seen as a threat before becoming a force. Black women in politics have been like Sue Richards...invisible. Not any more. From Shirley Chisholm to our new VPOTUS Elect Kamala Harris, black women are proving they are a force in American politics and that they have the power!

There is nothing more shocking than the death of your favorite hero. It feels as though all hope is lost. In the fictional world of comic books there is nothing less permanent than death. But what do we do when the hero dies in real life? Are we mourning the loss of the character or the loss of the man? In this episode we discuss the untimely and surprising loss of Chadwick Boseman who portrayed T'Challa, The Black Panther, in the Marvel Cinematic Universe.
