This week’s podcast guest Holly Deering is not only a mom of five kids, but she has also been a foster parent to three other kids, she is an adoptive mom, special needs mom, and an US Air Force wife.
Holly’s journey of being a mother of five with partly special needs and moving regularly due her husband’s job is already an uneasy path to walk along. But on top of that Holly experienced an unplanned birth at home without her husband being able to be there, battled postpartum depression, and suffered from the one thing probably all moms are guilty of: sacrificing herself to fulfill the idea of doing things „right“. Being the right mother and trying to have everything under control.
Ladies if you have had kids of your own, you know that this is a real problem! We’re all trying to do a good job!
Be honest though, how often have you judged other mom’s of how they parent? Because obviously there was a better way to do things! Or was there?
In any case, I plea guilty.
Can we just be real for a moment though?! There is NO ideal, perfect, easy way of being a mom. And you do NOT need to be in control of everything. You do NOT need to have all your shit together. It is OK to not know it all and look like it’s all sunshine, joy and the best thing that has ever happened to you.
