  • Conference Connect Revolutionizes the Event Industry with a Marketplace for Speakers, Organizers, and Attendees

Watch the show on television by downloading the e360tv channel app to your Roku, LG or AmazonFireTV. You can also see it on YouTube.

    Devin: What is your superpower?

Ashley: Ability to take complex situations and create innovative, multidimensional solutions.

Conferences are where deals get done and ideas are exchanged. Yet, the world of event organization has long been plagued by inefficiencies, high costs, and a lack of diversity. That’s where Ashley Wilson comes in with Conference Connect, a groundbreaking platform designed to transform the conference experience for everyone involved. Think of it as LinkedIn for speakers meets Yelp for events.

During today’s episode of the show, I had the privilege of learning about Ashley’s vision for creating a centralized marketplace that connects speakers, event organizers, vendors, and attendees. She explained that the platform addresses two major challenges in the event space.

“The audience is just a mirror of who is on stage,” Ashley shared. “If you lack diversity in your speaker lineup, you lack diversity in the audience. And that translates into a lack of opportunities for all.” Her emphasis on building more diverse and inclusive conferences highlights a profound societal need, reflecting her mission to create opportunities for underrepresented groups.

Conference Connect includes features such as free profiles for speakers and event organizers, event reviews, and a ticket affiliate program that drives brand awareness and boosts ticket sales. These features aim to address the core problems Ashley herself has encountered over her career. “As a speaker who has traveled across the country, I found there was no resource that gave me confidence in booking an event,” she said.

The platform also has big plans on the horizon. Ashley revealed that they’re expanding their tools to assist with speaker selection and sponsorship acquisition, ensuring a seamless and efficient organizational process. She noted that Conference Connect is built on the mission of creating more accessibility and fostering community within the event space.

The best part? Ashley and her team are taking things a step further by opening the doors for everyday investors to be part of their journey through a regulated crowdfunding campaign on Wefunder. She explained, “We feel raising on Wefunder provides an opportunity to grow and meet the needs that we’re receiving daily—even as cliché as it sounds, it’ll add gas to the fire.”

Ashley’s passion and strategic thinking are powering a movement to reshape the event industry. By addressing its inefficiencies and providing a platform to elevate diversity, Conference Connect is well-positioned to make a lasting impact.

    tl;dr:

Ashley Wilson introduced Conference Connect, a platform for speakers, organizers, and attendees to connect.

The platform aims to increase inclusivity and diversity on conference stages and among attendees.

Ashley also addressed inefficiencies in the event industry, such as the ticketing process and speaker selection.

Conference Connect’s regulated crowdfunding campaign on Wefunder offers investors an opportunity to support growth.

Ashley’s leadership stems from her superpower of finding innovative, multidimensional solutions to complex problems.

How to Develop Complex Problem Solving As a Superpower

Ashley’s unique superpower is the ability to take complex situations and create innovative, multidimensional solutions. “I feel that my superpower is my ability to take complex situations and look at all parts of the situation and come up with creative solutions that incorporate all of the different dimensions,” she explained in today’s episode. Her mindset enables her to avoid one-dimensional, siloed approaches, ensuring that her solutions tackle multiple challenges simultaneously. This talent allows her to think holistically and develop impactful, long-term strategies in both business and personal contexts.

Ashley shared an insightful example of leveraging her superpower in the context of her real estate firm. Rather than looking for wealthier tenants, her company implemented financial literacy programs for its working-class tenants. These free programs not only helped tenants make better financial decisions but also improved tenant retention and financial stability. By solving the deeper socioeconomic challenge, Ashley demonstrated how addressing root causes creates better outcomes for all involved.

Actionable Tips for Developing this Superpower:

Surround yourself with people who think differently and challenge your ideas.

Hone your communication skills to avoid breakdowns and foster collaboration.

Practice active listening to absorb and process complex information.

Approach problem-solving with social responsibility in mind.

Look for solutions that address interconnected issues rather than isolated symptoms.

By following Ashley’s example and advice, you can make complex problem solving a skill. With practice and effort, you could make it a superpower that enables you to do more good in the world.

Remember, however, that research into success suggests that building on your own superpowers is more important than creating new ones or overcoming weaknesses. You do you!

  • Revolutionizing Healthy Eating with ZeroCarb LYFE

Watch the show on television by downloading the e360tv channel app to your Roku, LG or AmazonFireTV. You can also see it on YouTube.

    Devin: What is your superpower?

Omar: Ability to combine undying persistence with visionary thinking.

When most people think of healthy food, the first things that come to mind are bland flavors and unfamiliar ingredients. Omar Atia, Founder and CEO of ZeroCarb LYFE, is changing that perception. His growing food company delivers indulgent, crave-worthy foods that are also healthy—creating a game-changing option for consumers seeking low-carb, high-protein alternatives.

Leveraging his experience with major food brands like Kraft and Procter & Gamble, Omar has transformed a simple kitchen-table idea into a thriving enterprise with products now available online and even on Target shelves. His mission? To create “tasty and healthy” products, including protein-based pizza crusts, chips, and tortillas, that improve quality of life.

“Our protein-based pizza actually brings people’s blood sugar down instead of raising it,” Omar explained in today’s episode. For those living with diabetes or athletes looking for sustained energy, ZeroCarb LYFE provides an alternative to traditional comfort foods.

What began as a partnership during the pandemic has now scaled into a trusted brand with over 70,000 customers. Omar emphasized how e-commerce played a pivotal role early on, noting that having a direct connection with customers allowed him to test, iterate, and refine his products using real-time feedback.

Critically, ZeroCarb LYFE is building a movement around a core insight: indulgence doesn’t have to mean sacrificing health. “People currently think about healthy food as something that doesn’t taste great. What we want to do is bring a very different version of that,” Omar explained.

In support of scaling his vision, ZeroCarb LYFE has launched a regulated crowdfunding campaign via Wefunder, inviting customers and fans alike to become co-owners. Omar sees this community-driven approach as an opportunity to “hockey-stick” growth while allowing supporters to share in the company’s success.

With today’s growing recognition of protein’s importance in human diets, ZeroCarb LYFE is more than a food brand—it’s a reimagining of how we approach healthy eating. If you’re intrigued, consider checking out ZeroCarb LYFE to see how this company is reshaping the way we snack and dine, one protein-packed bite at a time.

    tl;dr:

Omar Atia shares his mission to create indulgent, healthy protein-rich foods with ZeroCarb LYFE.

E-commerce allowed early product testing, feedback, and scaling to over 70,000 customers since 2019.

ZeroCarb LYFE offers products like protein-based pizza crusts, chips, and tortillas for healthier eating.

By engaging customers via a Wefunder campaign, ZeroCarb LYFE invites everyone to be co-owners.

Omar attributes his success to persistence, visionary thinking, and applying consumer insights effectively.

How to Develop Persistence and Vision As a Superpower

Omar’s superpower is his ability to combine undying persistence with visionary thinking. He said, “I just constantly believe that if you put in the effort and keep moving toward the goal you genuinely believe in, you will accomplish it.” This blend of determination and big-picture perspective— “seeing systems at a global scale,” as he described it—allows Omar to not only create comprehensive solutions but also inspire others to work toward transformative change.

At the start of ZeroCarb LYFE, Omar envisioned not just a product but a platform. He and his team began with protein-based pizza crusts but built a broader concept around creating indulgent, healthy foods across categories. He brought a systems-level perspective to the operation, demonstrating how the brand could impact restaurants, e-commerce, and retail simultaneously. His vision and persistence turned ZeroCarb LYFE from a single product into a scalable, category-defining company.

Actionable Tips to Develop the Superpower

Set clear long-term goals to guide your efforts, even amid immediate challenges.

Regularly zoom out to see the “big picture” and assess your decisions within a systems perspective.

Continuously iterate your solutions based on customer feedback and market testing.

Surround yourself with a team of capable people who align with your mission.

Stay persistent and learn to filter useful signals from distracting noise in your journey.

By following Omar’s example and advice, you can make persistence and vision a skill. With practice and effort, you could make it a superpower that enables you to do more good in the world.

Remember, however, that research into success suggests that building on your own superpowers is more important than creating new ones or overcoming weaknesses. You do you!

  • The Power of Regulation Crowdfunding: From White House Advocacy to Transforming Startup Finance

Watch the show on television by downloading the e360tv channel app to your Roku, LG or AmazonFireTV. You can also see it on YouTube.

    Devin: What is your superpower?

Sherwood: The ability to deeply connect with others, energizing relationships and fostering purpose-driven collaboration.

Sherwood (Woodie) Neiss, a Principal of Crowdfund Capital Advisors, played a pivotal role in creating the regulations that fundamentally changed startup finance. A decade ago, he was instrumental in the passage of the JOBS Act, including the provisions that made Regulation Crowdfunding possible. In this episode, the discussion centered around the challenges, opportunities, and responsibilities entrepreneurs face when raising capital through this regulated process.

Woodie reflected on his journey advocating for Regulation Crowdfunding, beginning with a bold idea and leading to a historic signing ceremony at the White House. “When we started walking the halls of Congress…we kept on hearing one thing: you guys are never going to pull this off,” Woodie shared. Yet, through relentless focus and bipartisan collaboration, he and his team successfully convinced lawmakers that Regulation Crowdfunding could create jobs and significantly enhance access to capital.

The experience of being at the signing of the JOBS Act was described by Woodie as surreal—a moment he’ll never forget. “I remember sitting on the lawn of the White House…watching the president come out, talking about how, quote-unquote, this is a game changer. And we’re pinching ourselves, going, I can’t believe we pulled this off.” For entrepreneurs today, that game-changing legislation has opened new doors, enabling startups to raise funds directly from their communities.

However, Woodie emphasized that success doesn’t end with raising capital; compliance and communication with investors are equally crucial. He noted that many companies fail to meet the SEC’s annual reporting requirements, which can harm both their reputations and future fundraising efforts. To address this, Woodie and his team developed carfiling.com—a tool designed to simplify annual compliance filings for entrepreneurs using Regulation Crowdfunding.

For startup founders leveraging Regulation Crowdfunding, Woodie’s story serves as both an inspiration and a practical guide. He transformed skepticism into groundbreaking legislation and continues to innovate within the space. Woodie believes that Regulation Crowdfunding is not just about democratizing capital—it’s about fostering trust and accountability between entrepreneurs and their communities.

    tl;dr:

Sherwood (Woodie) Neiss explained his journey advocating for the JOBS Act and Regulation Crowdfunding.

He described the historic White House signing ceremony and bipartisan efforts behind the legislation.

Woodie emphasized the importance of compliance for companies raising capital via Regulation Crowdfunding.

He introduced carfiling.com, a tool designed to simplify annual reporting for entrepreneurs.

Woodie highlighted his superpower—connecting—and shared personal insights on fostering human relationships.

How to Develop Connecting As a Superpower

Woodie described his superpower as “connecting,” and he shared a heartfelt, personal perspective on what that means. “When my son was three…he said, ‘I’m connecting to your love battery.’” For Woodie, connection isn’t just about relationships; it’s an energy that powers humanity. “We as humans rely on other humans…to recharge us in ways that bring validation to who we are.” Professional and personal connections—whether partnering with colleagues or recharging through family interactions—drive his purpose and success.

Woodie’s son Max provided the inspiration for the children’s book The Love Battery, a metaphor on human connection. Max used to throw his legs over Woodie’s belly at bedtime and explained, “I’m connecting to your love battery.” This heartfelt moment shaped Woodie’s understanding of how vital connection is for sustaining energy, optimism, and creativity. The concept of the “love battery” now serves as a metaphor both for Woodie’s personal life and his work, inspiring communities and encouraging collaboration.

    Tips for Developing This Superpower

Be Present: Focus on where you are now, rather than always planning ahead.

Acknowledge Others: Express gratitude to people around you through small, meaningful gestures.

Balance Priorities: Recognize the importance of personal, professional, and health-related priorities equally.

Encourage Collaboration: Build relationships that foster purpose and excitement in your work.

By following Woodie’s example and advice, you can make connecting a skill. With practice and effort, you could make it a superpower that enables you to do more good in the world.

Remember, however, that research into success suggests that building on your own superpowers is more important than creating new ones or overcoming weaknesses. You do you!

Watch the show on television by downloading the e360tv channel app to your Roku, LG or AmazonFireTV. You can also see it on YouTube.

    Devin: What is your superpower?

Skip: Getting others on board and believing in being able to achieve a shared mission.

The housing crisis in the United States is staggering. Experts now estimate the country needs to build 10 million homes to meet demand—a near-impossible feat using traditional methods. Enter Lagom Development, a vertically integrated housing platform that combines innovative construction techniques with sustainable practices to make homeownership attainable for more people.

In this interview, Lagom Development’s founder and CEO, Skip Hulsey, discussed the company’s approach to tackling this massive problem. Skip’s solution involves integrating manufacturing, construction, and sales under one roof, leveraging Structural Insulated Panels (SIPs) to build efficiently, affordably, and sustainably. “Our target is four hours from slab to a dried-in home,” Skip explained, emphasizing the remarkable speed at which they can build. “Instead of a weeks-long process, we’re delivering a fully insulated, weather-ready shell in an afternoon.”

Lagom Development’s homes aren’t just fast to construct—they’re energy efficient, too. Skip noted that owners see substantial savings on utilities: “By our calculations, it’s roughly equivalent to an additional mortgage payment every year in utility savings.” This groundbreaking approach reduces waste, shortens labor time, and cuts long-term energy costs, making it a win for both homeowners and the planet.

To scale its vision nationally, Lagom Development is raising funds through a regulated investment crowdfunding campaign on Wefunder. This democratized approach to fundraising aligns with its mission to make homeownership accessible. “Allowing retail investors to come along for the ride,” Skip said, “helps us extend the same end goal of accessibility to more families.”

Skip’s journey to founding Lagom Development reflects his lifelong commitment to housing. He began framing homes as a teenager, worked in manufacturing and real estate, and later earned a master’s degree in real estate development. COVID-19 served as a key turning point for him. “I saw that teachers, first responders, and service industry folks could no longer afford starter homes,” he said. Determined to find a solution, he created Lagom Development to reimagine what’s possible for housing.

For anyone interested in supporting or learning more about this impactful venture, visit Lagom Development’s crowdfunding page or check out its innovative SIP technology. Skip’s team is proving that with the right tools, partnerships, and approach, solving the housing crisis isn’t just possible—it’s within reach.

    tl;dr:

Skip Hulsey introduced Lagom Development, a purpose-driven company addressing the U.S. housing crisis with scalable solutions.

Lagom Development uses Structural Insulated Panels to build affordable, energy-efficient homes in just four hours.

The company is raising funds through a regulated crowdfunding campaign on Wefunder.

Skip shared his personal journey in housing and his decision to pursue innovative solutions post-COVID.

Skip’s superpower—team building—has been critical to assembling a high-performance team at Lagom Development.

How to Develop Team Building As a Superpower

Skip’s superpower is team building. In today’s episode of Superpowers for Good, Skip attributed the success of Lagom Development to the strength of its team. He described his superpower as “getting others on board and believing in being able to achieve a shared mission.” He emphasized the importance of attracting talented individuals who share a common purpose, explaining, “I think it’s always been and will continue to be about getting the right people on the bus.”

Skip shared how he convinced a seasoned operations expert with over four decades of experience—including a career at Accenture—to join Lagom Development as its Chief Operations Officer. This hire was critical to Lagom Development’s ability to scale its operations. As Skip explained, building a team depends on “selling the narrative” and fully believing in the mission. He noted that people are drawn to being part of projects that are bigger than themselves, especially when they sense real optimism and purpose.

    Tips for Developing Team-Building Skills:

Burn the Boats: Commit fully to your mission and project to inspire others to join you.

Stay Curious: Ask people about their experiences and engage in meaningful conversations to build connections.

Evangelize the Vision: Share your belief in the mission and paint a compelling picture of what’s possible.

Work Hard: Lead by example to demonstrate your commitment and inspire your team.

By following Skip’s example and advice, you can make team building a skill. With practice and effort, you could make it a superpower that enables you to do more good in the world.

Remember, however, that research into success suggests that building on your own superpowers is more important than creating new ones or overcoming weaknesses. You do you!

  • A Quiet Revolution in Emergency Power: Mark Collins Brings Emission-Free Energy to Your Home

Watch the show on television by downloading the e360tv channel app to your Roku, LG or AmazonFireTV. You can also see it on YouTube.

    Devin: What is your superpower?

Mark: Ability to see problems as opportunities for improvement and innovation.

When the electricity goes out, having reliable backup power can make all the difference. Imagine a generator so quiet and lightweight that it can be placed right next to your CPAP machine or refrigerator in your bedroom. This is exactly what Mark Collins, CEO of Emission Free Generators Inc, has achieved with the Zen H2 Generator—a groundbreaking innovation in emission-free energy.

The generator works in tandem with proprietary energy cartridges filled with a unique, powdered material. When water is added, the cartridge produces just the right amount of hydrogen, which is immediately converted into electricity. Mark explained, “You only create the amount of electricity that you need to power that single device. It’s a very, very efficient way of supplying electricity to specific objects.”

Unlike traditional generators, which are noisy, smelly, and potentially dangerous due to emissions and exhaust, the Zen H2 is quiet, safe, and environmentally friendly. The system operates without high-pressure hydrogen storage or cables snaking across your home. “You can put this right in the bedroom next to the CPAP machine, safely, quietly operating,” Mark explained in today’s episode.

This innovation is especially valuable for people relying on medical devices or those interested in sustainable energy solutions. Beyond emergency backup at home, the generator also holds promise for areas in the developing world where access to electricity is limited.

Mark and his team are raising capital via Wefunder to bring the Zen H2 Generator into full-scale production. Crowdfunding was a natural choice for the company; it provided a way to test their product concept in the market and connect with stakeholders. “We’ve had over 400 investors… It’s taught us a lot about what people want, their comments, their needs,” Mark said.

Investors also have the opportunity to earn early access to the generator, making this campaign not just an investment in clean technology, but one in practical innovation that transforms lives.

The Zen H2 Generator has the power to change how we think about electricity both at home and around the world. With emission-free energy production that’s safe and easy to use, Mark’s invention could make noisy, traditional generators obsolete.

    tl;dr:

Mark Collins introduces Zen H2, a quiet, emission-free hydrogen-powered generator for emergency backup at home.

The generator works with innovative cartridges producing hydrogen on demand without high-pressure storage.

Mark discusses his decades of entrepreneurial experience and successful, purpose-driven innovations.

The company is crowdfunding to scale production, connecting with over 400 WeFunder investors.

Mark emphasizes persistence and purpose as the driving forces behind solving big, global problems.

How to Develop Relentless Problem-Solving As a Superpower

Mark’s superpower is his ability to see problems as opportunities for improvement and innovation. He shared in today’s episode, “The main thing that keeps me really buoyant… is just looking at a problem and saying, there has to be a better way.” This passion drives his determination to create solutions that benefit not just a few, but entire communities.

After selling a company he had built over 11 years, Mark found himself at odds without purpose. He described being in a “heavy funk” during his brief retirement, struggling to find fulfillment. He rechanneled this energy into new opportunities by diving back into his natural gift for problem-solving. This led to the initial development of what would become the Zen H2 Generator, an invention focused on solving real-world challenges with clean, reliable power.

    Tips for Developing Relentless Problem-Solving:

Start by questioning the status quo: If something isn’t working well, ask how it could be improved.

Simplify your ideas: Break down a challenge into actionable, practical steps for innovation.

Surround yourself with a team that complements your strengths and moves your ideas forward.

Stay persistent and adaptable dust yourself off after setbacks and tackle problems from new angles.

Focus on scalable solutions that make a broad impact, not only for yourself but for others.

By following Mark’s example and advice, you can make relentless problem-solving a skill. With practice and effort, you could make it a superpower that enables you to do more good in the world.

Remember, however, that research into success suggests that building on your own superpowers is more important than creating new ones or overcoming weaknesses. You do you!

  • Investing in Climate Action with Purpose: Battery Energy Storage for A Sustainable Future

Watch the show on television by downloading the e360tv channel app to your Roku, LG or AmazonFireTV. You can also see it on YouTube.

    Devin: What is your superpower?

Eric: Ability to connect deeply with his heritage and channel it into meaningful work.

Climate change often leaves many wondering how they can make a real difference. Eric Pasi, the CEO of Enterprise Energy, believes he has an answer: invest in sustainable, renewable energy projects. During this episode of Superpowers for Good, Eric shared an exciting way to support the transition to a cleaner future while potentially earning great returns.

Eric outlined a bold initiative currently raising $400,000 on the Climatize platform to fund batteries in the Chicagoland area. Batteries are critical for creating a reliable, renewable energy grid by storing solar and wind power for peak demand periods. Eric explained, “We’ve seen a hockey stick growth in solar and wind deployment... now we need the grid to be more dynamic.” By enabling investments with low minimum contributions, Climatize is making it possible for virtually anyone to participate in funding climate solutions.

The project is made possible by Illinois’ innovative Clean and Reliable Grid Act. Signed into law in January, it opens new opportunities for distributed battery aggregation, a cutting-edge renewable energy approach. Unlike traditional solar projects requiring large swaths of land, a 5-megawatt battery project, Eric noted, “often needs less than one acre of land.” This efficiency unlocks the potential for swift, scalable development.

Enterprise Energy has already demonstrated success with its previous projects. Eric shared, “Last summer, we raised development capital on Climatize for community solar in Illinois... we’ve closed financially and will be repaying investors early.” The proven track record highlights both the viability of these projects and Eric’s commitment to investor trust.

Eric’s long-standing passion for renewable energy is evident. Since entering the field in 2007, he’s developed over 500 megawatts of solar power. This new focus on batteries represents the next step in his efforts to revolutionize energy systems.

With Enterprise Energy’s transparent approach, promising returns, and tangible environmental impact, this crowdfunding campaign is an inspiring opportunity for investors to align their money with their values. The campaign can be explored online via Climatize and the QR code shared during the episode. This represents an exciting chance to support a resilient, cleaner energy future.

    tl;dr:

Eric Pasi discusses a Climatize crowdfunding campaign raising $400,000 for batteries in the Chicagoland area.

Illinois’ Clean and Reliable Grid Act enables scalable distributed battery aggregation for renewable energy storage.

Enterprise Energy’s track record includes early investor repayment for previous community solar projects.

Eric attributes his success to his Tongan heritage, inspiring his work in renewable energy development.

Investing in Enterprise Energy combines climate solutions with potential financial returns for Climatize investors.

How to Develop Creating Purposeful Connection As a Superpower

Eric’s superpower is his ability to connect deeply with his heritage and channel it into meaningful work. He explained, “My father was an immigrant from Tonga… the island he came from is mere feet above sea level in most places.” Motivated by the tangible climate risks his family’s homeland faces, Eric’s passion for the renewable energy sector began with a personal understanding of the stakes. Eric’s background, coupled with his drive to create real change, has enabled him to excel both professionally and personally.

One of Eric’s most inspiring stories involves his journey to COP27, where he marched shoulder-to-shoulder with climate activists from the South Pacific, including Tonga. In a full-circle moment, Eric said, “I met Al Gore on the shore of the Dead Sea... and told him my story.” Through bold actions like these, Eric showcases how he’s used his superpower of connection to inspire impactful progress in the climate movement.

Eric shared actionable steps for fostering a sense of purpose-driven connection. He emphasized the importance of storytelling, as demonstrated by his own journey: “Knowing your ‘why’ can motivate you to push through obstacles.” He also encourages people to embrace learning moments, citing his time with the Climate Reality Project. Lastly, he stressed paying it forward by mentoring others in their energy transitions.

By following Eric’s example and advice, you can make creating purposeful connection a skill. With practice and effort, you could make it a superpower that enables you to do more good in the world.

Remember, however, that research into success suggests that building on your own superpowers is more important than creating new ones or overcoming weaknesses. You do you!

  • Reinventing the Bedpan: A Simple Yet Revolutionary Healthcare Innovation

Superpowers for Good should not be considered investment advice. Seek counsel before making investment decisions. When you purchase an item, launch a campaign or create an investment account after clicking a link here, we may earn a fee. Engage to support our work.

    Devin: What is your superpower?

    Nadia: Listening.

Nadia Tedeschi’s invention—a radically redesigned bedpan—solves a painfully overlooked problem in healthcare. This innovative device addresses the indignity, discomfort, and inefficiency of traditional bedpans, which have remained largely unchanged for over a century.

Nadia, a former nursing assistant, was inspired after witnessing patients endure pain and humiliation. “I had a patient look up at me through her tears and say, ‘Nobody should have to live like this,’” she shared during the interview. That experience led her to create Mylo Medical Supplies’ flagship product, the MyloPan.

The MyloPan’s unique design features an inflatable component with a built-in disposable mechanism. Unlike rigid, outdated bedpans, this upgraded version slides flat under patients, inflates to a customizable comfort level, and hygienically seals waste without requiring movement. This approach not only restores dignity for patients but also alleviates physical and emotional strain on nurses. “The current device causes more problems than it solves,” Nadia explained. “We turned every pain point into a feature of our innovative bedpan.”

To bring the device to market, Mylo Medical Supplies is raising funds through a regulated investment crowdfunding campaign on NetCapital. Crowdfunding allows the team to build a community of advocates, including caregivers and patients who directly understand the importance of this innovation. “We wanted to make sure we’re the company bridging the gap between medical device companies and end users,” Nadia noted. “Crowdfunding felt perfect for creating that network.”

The MyloPan is more than just a medical device—it represents compassionate innovation, fostering real change in healthcare. Crowdfunding also makes investing accessible to everyone, so patients, nurses, and others can help drive this initiative forward.

Visit s4g.biz/mylo to learn more about the campaign and become part of the movement to revolutionize healthcare.

    tl;dr:

Nadia Tedeschi discussed her revolutionary inflatable bedpan that improves comfort, hygiene, and nurse efficiency.

The invention, inspired by patient struggles, ensures dignity and addresses longstanding healthcare challenges.

Mylo Medical Supplies is crowdfunding to fund production while building a community of advocates and supporters.

Listening is Nadia’s superpower, enabling her to recognize and address overlooked problems in healthcare.

Nadia’s approach highlights the power of compassionate innovation to create meaningful change in healthcare.

How to Develop Listening As a Superpower

Nadia’s superpower is listening, an often undervalued yet critical skill in healthcare innovation. She described listening as essential for identifying overlooked problems and creating practical solutions. “You hear everyone’s struggles day-to-day,” Nadia explained. “But being determined to solve those problems—that’s what drives innovation.” Her ability to listen actively to patients and caregivers directly shaped the design of Mylo Medical Supplies’ MyloPan, which tackles the challenges posed by traditional bedpans.

Nadia’s dedication to listening became evident early in her career as a nursing assistant. On one of her first shifts, she witnessed a patient endure overwhelming pain and humiliation while using a bedpan. The patient tearfully said, “Nobody should have to live like this.” Though her supervisor dismissed the situation as standard practice, Nadia couldn’t let it go. The experience stayed with her, ultimately leading to the prototype and eventual creation of the MyloPan.

Tips for Developing the Superpower of Listening:

Take time to understand problems from the perspective of those directly affected.

Identify recurring issues and treat them as opportunities for improvement or innovation.

Transform listening into action by using feedback to inform real solutions.

Rely on empathy to connect meaningfully with concerns, ensuring they’re genuinely understood.

By following Nadia’s example and guidance, listening can become a valuable skill. With intentional practice, it can grow into a superpower, helping to solve problems and create positive change in the world.

Remember, however, that research into success suggests that building on your own superpowers is more important than creating new ones or overcoming weaknesses. You do you!

    Stay Cool This Summer!

  • How NOVICA Creates Opportunity and Impact for Global Artisans

Superpowers for Good should not be considered investment advice. Seek counsel before making investment decisions. When you purchase an item, launch a campaign or create an investment account after clicking a link here, we may earn a fee. Engage to support our work.

Watch the show on television by downloading the e360tv channel app to your Roku, LG or AmazonFireTV. You can also see it on YouTube.

    Devin: What is your superpower?

Roberto: Ability to “channel empathy” as the key skill that drives his success.

When Roberto Milk, Co-founder and CEO of NOVICA and Handmade.com, and his friends were still in college, they dreamed of building a business that could change the world. Today, they’re achieving that vision at scale by empowering artisans in developing economies to sell their handmade goods directly to consumers. Since its launch over 20 years ago, NOVICA has sent over $142 million to more than 10,000 global artists.

“We wanted to figure out a better way [for artisans] to access the market,” Roberto explained. “We built a system around being close to the artists through these Artisan Empowerment Hubs.”

These hubs—located in countries like Bali, Brazil, Peru, and Guatemala—allow artisans to set their own prices, access 0% interest microcredit, and retain control over their creations. The model also preserves cultural heritage by sustaining endangered art forms while fostering economic independence for artisans, many of whom are women supporting families in their communities.

Roberto’s personal connection to this mission is rooted in his family history. “My grandmother on my Peruvian side was an artisan,” he shared, revealing his understanding of the challenges talented creators face. Artists are often geographically distant from buyers and hampered by middlemen, leading to slim profits despite their valuable craftsmanship. NOVICA addressed this gap by restructuring supply chains and creating digital tools to remove barriers for artisans.

Now, NOVICA is raising capital for its next phase of growth by broadening investor participation through a StartEngine campaign. On the platform, anyone—not just accredited investors—can invest in NOVICA for as little as $300. Investors also gain perks like discounts or elevated customer status on NOVICA’s website. “It’s almost like democratizing on the investment side,” Roberto said, emphasizing how the crowdsourcing model aligns with the company’s mission.

Driven by their success, Roberto and his team recently launched Handmade.com, a complementary marketplace that leverages AI to help artisans manage their own product listings, allowing NOVICA to scale globally.

“We’re eyeing the $100 million mark,” Roberto shared. “With Handmade.com and other innovations, we’re positioned to grow quickly while staying true to our mission.”

By building solutions that uplift global artisans, NOVICA demonstrates how social entrepreneurship can make a lasting difference—preserving culture, creating livelihoods, and connecting communities.

    tl;dr:

NOVICA empowers artisans globally, sending them $142 million via artist hubs in 10 countries.

Roberto Milk’s family connection inspired the creation of NOVICA to disrupt traditional supply chains.

NOVICA is scaling through a StartEngine campaign, allowing anyone to invest for as little as $300.

Handmade.com expands NOVICA’s mission by using AI to help artisans self-manage product listings.

Roberto credits “channeling empathy” as key to overcoming obstacles and driving social impact success.

How to Develop Channeling Empathy As a Superpower

When asked about his superpower, Roberto identified the ability to “channel empathy” as the key skill that drives his success. “The process of building a social impact company is really hard,” he explained. “Channeling empathy...has helped us push through and succeed because there was no plan B.”

Empathy is at the heart of the NOVICA model. By deeply listening to artisans’ struggles, needs, and dreams, Roberto and his team designed solutions that respect their craft, such as creating empowerment hubs that treat artists like “queens or kings.” These hubs provide not only financial tools like microcredit but also dignity, collaboration, and access to global markets, enabling artisans to thrive.

One artisan, Leoncio Tinoco, an award-winning master weaver from Peru, struggled to make a living despite his expertise. NOVICA commissioned him to create a stunning tapestry depicting the iconic Afghan refugee girl from a National Geographic cover. The project brought Leoncio much-needed income and connected him with global recognition. The finished piece now resides at National Geographic’s headquarters, symbolizing the power of empathy to change lives.

Tips for Developing Empathy as a Strength:

Listen Intentionally: Take extra time to fully understand others’ words, emotions, and perspectives before responding.

Practice Awareness: Be open to inspiration from conversations, meetings, or everyday experiences.

Focus on Impact: Prioritize solutions that help others thrive while preserving dignity and culture.

Build Relationships: Collaborate with individuals as partners in shared success, not just as contributors to your goals.

By following Roberto’s example and advice, anyone can make channeling empathy a skill. With practice and effort, this could become a superpower that enables greater impact in the world.

Remember, however, that research into success suggests that building on your own superpowers is more important than creating new ones or overcoming weaknesses. You do you!

  • Investing With Impact: How Swan Impact Network Empowers Purpose-Driven Founders

Suresh: Ability to blend strategy, vision, and action to expand organizational and personal impact.

Swan Impact Network takes angel investing to the next level by combining traditional financial returns with social impact. Led by Executive Director Suresh Sundarababu, the organization serves as a lifeline for mission-driven founders determined to tackle societal challenges. In today’s episode, I spoke with Suresh about the innovative approach at Swan, including how they’re reimagining the world of angel investing.

“We equally care about impact and return on investment,” Suresh explained. “Any good value proposition can also be good for the world.” Swan Impact’s model creates opportunities for even smaller investors, lowering thresholds to democratize angel investing. For accredited investors, the required minimum investment is just $5,000—shattering traditional barriers to entry that often lock out purpose-driven individuals.

Swan’s approach also welcomes younger members into the ecosystem, providing them with the time and mentorship opportunities to participate meaningfully even before fully entering the world of angel investing. “The associate group… allows for those who care about impact, especially the younger generation, to come in,” Suresh shared.

The organization actively supports high-impact businesses across sectors like clean tech, life sciences, financial empowerment, and education. Among its many success stories are Skyven Technologies, a clean tech company maximizing the efficiency of industrial steam use, and Binary Bridge, which offers portable medical records solutions for underserved, remote areas in developing countries.

But Suresh insists Swan’s role extends far beyond writing checks. He explained, “Writing a check is the least of what we want to be known for… More important are the knowledge share, the bouncing board that founders don’t usually have.” Swan’s ability to provide strategic guidance ensures the businesses they fund are not just surviving but thriving.

Under Suresh’s leadership, Swan Impact Network is proving that purpose and profit can go hand in hand. By opening doors for diverse founders and democratizing angel investing, the organization exemplifies how capital can be a force for good in the hands of those strongly committed to creating a better world.

If you’re looking to support—or become—a founder driven by purpose, Swan Impact Network might just be your next step.

    tl;dr:

The Swan Impact Network combines meaningful social impact with financial returns to support mission-driven founders.

Accredited investors can start with $5,000 investments, giving everyday people better access to angel investing.

Swan provides mentorship and guidance, ensuring founders grow their businesses with strategic support.

Suresh’s superpower for scaling initiatives combines vision, strategy, and action for maximum impact.

The associate program educates young members and diversifies angel investing for new generations.

How to Develop Scaling for Impact As a Superpower

Suresh’s superpower is scaling initiatives for impact by quickly forming strategies and building teams. “At the most fundamental level, I’m a thinking partner when it comes to scaling anything,” Suresh explained. He highlighted his natural ability to blend strategy, vision, and action to expand organizational and personal impact. Whether scaling a startup, a team, or even parenting his two young boys, Suresh uses this innate skill to amplify positive outcomes.

Suresh shared an anecdote about his time working at National Instruments, where he played an essential role in helping the company grow from $125 million in revenue to $750 million during his tenure. Describing the keys to this success, he highlighted the belief in shared purpose and working toward impactful goals in collaboration with smart, like-minded individuals. The culture of trust and the commitment to scaling responsibly defined this success narrative.

    Tips for Developing the Superpower:

Craft a Personal Purpose Statement: Write down your purpose to clarify your priorities and sustain focus.

Identify Your Unique Strengths: Reflect or ask others for feedback to uncover your natural talents.

Stay Aligned With Your Values: When your work or impact detours from your purpose, be quick to course correct.

Combine Vision With Action: Set long-term goals (your flag) while identifying concrete next steps to maintain momentum.

Collaborate With Like-Minded Individuals: Surround yourself with people who share your values for increased synergy and trust.

By following Suresh’s example and advice, you can make scaling for impact a skill. With practice and effort, you could make it a superpower that enables you to do more good in the world.

Remember, however, that research into success suggests that building on your own superpowers is more important than creating new ones or overcoming weaknesses. You do you!

  • The Psychology of Divided Politics: How “UNFIT TOO” Aims to Unite Americans

    Devin: What is your superpower?

Dan: Ability to unite people around a meaningful mission.

America’s deepening polarization is creating profound challenges. Democracy depends on finding common ground, yet politics have entered an era of what Director and Producer Dan Partland calls “extreme negative hyper-partisanship.” In a recent conversation, Dan discussed his upcoming documentary, UNFIT TOO, a sequel to his widely acclaimed film #UNFIT, which dissected the psychology of Donald Trump. This time, he seeks to look beyond Trump and Trumpism to examine how America can navigate out of this political and cultural divide.

Dan explained the gravity of the situation, emphasizing how populism on both the right and left distorts democracy. “Populism is really about power...a ruthless majority,” Dan said. “Democracies can easily slip into that...what the study of psychology tells us is that these people are frequently...compelling...but it isn’t necessarily good for the world.” Building on this analysis, the new documentary explores how polarization, populism, and societal divisions threaten democracy’s core values of negotiation and representation.

The concept behind UNFIT TOO takes the mission one step further: finding actionable strategies for individuals and communities to bridge the gaps between ideological divides. Dan sees this challenge reflected everywhere—from political discourse to fractured family dinners. He explained, “Every single family has been affected by this negative hyper-partisanship...What’s the appropriate disposition towards that problem? How do you engage with people who you feel so different from?”

As compelling as #UNFIT was in analyzing Donald Trump’s leadership style, this sequel focuses on solutions. Dan noted that UNFIT TOO isn’t just about diagnosing the current crisis but finding pathways to a more collaborative and functional democracy. The documentary aims to give audiences practical tools to discuss and address difficult, deep-rooted divides.

Dan and his team are raising capital for UNFIT TOO through a regulated crowdfunding campaign on Wefunder. This approach reflects Dan’s belief that business interests and philanthropy can align to create both cultural and social impact. Those interested in supporting the project can visit the campaign at s4g.biz/UNFIT.

The success of #UNFIT, which became the top-selling documentary on Apple and a cultural phenomenon, is a testament to Dan’s ability to tackle controversial and challenging topics in a meaningful way. UNFIT TOO promises to be equally impactful—a documentary that not only informs but also empowers Americans to reclaim the true spirit of democracy.

    tl;dr:

Dan Partland’s new documentary UNFIT TOO explores solutions to America’s extreme polarization and populism.

The film builds on the success of #UNFIT, examining Trump’s psychology and its impact on politics.

Dan describes populism as a key threat to democracy’s representation, collaboration, and common-ground solutions.

The sequel aims to provide tools for healing divides within families, communities, and broader political contexts.

UNFIT TOO is raising funds via Wefunder, where business and philanthropy align for cultural impact.

How to Develop Mission-Driven Leadership As a Superpower

Dan’s superpower is his ability to unite people around a meaningful mission. Describing his work on documentaries like #UNFIT and now UNFIT TOO, Dan shared how engaging in mission-driven projects has fueled his work ethic and collaborations. “I really believe in... unifying people around a sense of mission,” Dan explained. For him, creating films that address real-world problems and inspire compassion in culture brings purpose to his work: “By aiming the lens at the real problems of real people, you engender more compassion.” Dan believes that great storytelling isn’t just entertainment but a vehicle for social good, fostering collaboration and actionable impact.

One project that exemplifies Dan’s mission-driven approach was a documentary show embedded in a suburban high school, documenting students’ trials and experiences. To align the production with the school’s educational mission, Dan and his team created a filmmaking curriculum. This approach added value not only for the documentary but also for the students and community, demonstrating how mission-based work can serve diverse goals. Dan shared, “Creating this educational component...helped align with the project’s objectives, amplifying the subjects’ voices while advancing media literacy.”

    Tips for Developing This Superpower:

Align Your Work with a Greater Purpose: Look for ways to connect your goals to real-world impact.

Unify Teams Around Shared Missions: Create a sense of collective purpose for a project’s success.

Seek Collaborative Win-Wins: Ensure your work benefits stakeholders and participants in meaningful ways.

Focus on Amplifying Social Good: Go beyond storytelling to highlight actionable change in your work.

Cultivate Empathy Through Action: Use every opportunity to foster understanding, compassion, and collaboration.

By following Dan’s example and advice, you can make mission-driven leadership a skill. With practice and effort, you could develop this superpower to create impact and drive meaningful change in the world.

Remember, however, that research into success suggests that building on your own superpowers is more important than creating new ones or overcoming weaknesses. You do you!
