Here in the United Kingdom, many people were shocked by a published report, demonstrating that candidates from less privileged backgrounds were being barred from top jobs at elite firms in the City. There were various criteria amounting to a 'poshness test' that managers were using to select candidates.

I have met many very successful business people, entrepreneurs and artistes who tell me they were the 'tea boy' or girl within an organisation and they learnt so much. I was very sorry to hear that many colleagues are failing/refusing to make tea or coffee for colleagues, rather slinking off to the machine to make their own drink.

Of course, we all have visions of the heroine of "The Devil Wears Prada" struggling with coffee for  her monster of a boss, but the reality is different for most employees and teams! In fact taking your turn making the tea or doing the 'Bun Run" is a great way to network within a company and to raise your profile. How else will you have a conversation with the CEO of a company?

The election was last night. Like everyone else, I was anticipating a coaltion government ruling. However, at 10.01pm it became apparent that the exit poles were quite different to the opinion poles during the campaigns!

SO I have re-recorded my podcast. It is still about negotiating, but emphasising that if you DON'T include your core values within your minimum requirements, you could lose your supporters. This is what happened to the Lib Dems, to their cost.
