    A Mississippi man has been arrested for allegedly posing as a police officer and holding a woman against her will during what he called a “sting operation.” 23-year-old Dwyon Altman, of Meridian, is charged with impersonating an officer, procurement of prostitution, and obscene electronic communication. Plus, a 49-year-old man has been arrested for stabbing his 73-year-old father to death before invading a nearby home in Jackson County.

    A McComb man has been arrested for allegedly kidnapping a 2-year-old boy in Louisiana. Investigators say the toddler and his mother were riding in a vehicle with James Casey Mercier when they pulled into a welcome center north of Kentwood. When the boy's mother got out to remove her son from the back seat, Mercier drove off. The boy was found safe and sleeping in the back seat behind a business in Kentwood. Mercier is charged with aggravated kidnapping.

  • Two men are facing multiple charges after a traffic stop in Meridian
    Two men are facing multiple charges after a traffic stop in Meridian on Wednesday. Agents with the East MS Drug Task Force stopped a vehicle on 29th Avenue and 17th Street, where they arrested Johnny Sims and Reginald Dixon. Investigators recovered stolen firearms, cocaine, and marijuana during subsequent searches of their residences.

  • Noxapater man facing charges after allegedly firing on Neshoba County deputies on Monday
    A suspect who allegedly fired several rounds at Neshoba County Sheriff's deputies on Monday is charged with five counts of aggravated assault of a police officer. Augustine Eugene Clark, of Noxapater, allegedly threatened the mother of his child with an AR-15 at his home on Road 848. According to the Neshoba Democrat, the woman and her child were not on the property when deputies arrived. The suspect threatened the lives of those deputies, opening fire on them from inside the house. The MBI is handling the investigation.

  • Mississippi Senators vote to end government shutdown, now in its second day
    Mississippi Senators Roger Wicker and Cindy Hyde-Smith voted in favor of a bill to end the government shutdown on Tuesday and again on Wednesday afternoon. Both measures failed. The Senate failed to reach a spending agreement in time for the end of fiscal year 2025 on Tuesday, after a short-term extension of funding aimed at keeping the government open through Nov. 21, passed the House passed in September.
