Brooksville Mayor Earlie Henley and former City Clerk Shaquita Malone have been arrested for embezzlement. Both were taken into custody by Special Agents with the State Auditor's Office on Friday morning.

The man who admitted to killing a woman in Louisiana in 2024, kidnapping her daughters, and killing one of the little girls in Mississippi may avoid the death penalty. Daniel Callihan is expected to plead guilty to the murders of Callie Brunett and her 4-year-old daughter, Erin, in a Tangipahoa Parish courtroom this morning. Prosecutors are taking the death penalty off the table in exchange for Callihan’s guilty plea.

There's been a huge shakeup at the Moss Point police department. Police Chief Brandon Ashley sent his resignation letter to Mayor Billy Knight on Wednesday night. According to WLOX, two officers and three detectives also decided to leave the department as of Thursday. That leaves the department with 8 officers and one detective on active payroll in a city that budgeted for 18 officers and six detectives.

The Trump administration on Monday released a report claiming autism is linked to the use of the painkiller Tylenol, or acetaminophen, during pregnancy. State Health Officer Dr. Dan Edney recommends limited use during pregnancy, and says it's important for pregnant women to discuss the use of any medication with their doctor.

Ole Miss football fans are in for a pregame treat ahead of the No. 13 Rebels’ matchup against No. 4 LSU on Saturday. A B-2 Spirit bomber will fly over Vaught-Hemingway Stadium before the 2:30 p.m. kickoff. The flyover will be led by the 509th Bomb Wing out of Whiteman Air Force Base in Missouri — the same wing that bombed three Iranian nuclear sites over the summer. Saturday’s game will air on ABC and participating SuperTalk Mississippi stations.

Tourists spend big bucks in Mississippi. Danielle Morgan, the Executive Director of the Mississippi Tourism Association, says the latest numbers show tourists spend over $31 million every day! The Governor's Conference on Tourism will take place from October 1 to 3 at the Vicksburg Convention Center.

Moss Point Police Chief Brandon Ashley turned in his resignation on Wednesday. According to WLOX, the resignation will be effective on October 3. Ashley was suspended for five days in August because he didn't tell the mayor that an officer was under investigation for a domestic violence incident. Plus, Jackson police have arrested a suspect who allegedly murdered a teenager on Wednesday afternoon. 17-year-old Zentavious Banks was shot in the 4800 block of Churchill Drive. 22-year-old Kenneth Jones Jr. is charged with the murder.

A lucky Long Beach lottery player is now nearly half a million dollars richer after winning the Mississippi Match 5 jackpot. The player matched all five numbers – 6, 10, 27, 33, and 35 – during Wednesday night’s drawing to win the $460,000 grand prize. The ticket was purchased at Keith’s Superstore in Long Beach.

While cowbell ringing is encouraged during Mississippi State’s inaugural SEC battle of the 2025 campaign, Bulldog fans are also being encouraged to exercise restraint during periods of the game where the noisemakers are barred from clanging.
