A Batesville woman is charged with attempted murder after allegedly planting a homemade bomb outside a person's car. Multiple law enforcement agencies executed a federal search warrant at 27-year-old Christina Willis's home, and she was captured on Monday. The suspicious package was discovered on a vehicle in Lafayette County on June 20.

Two people, including a McComb police officer, were killed in a shooting on Tuesday. Officer Jason Blake was fatally shot in the incident at a home off Highway 44 near Cole Thomas Road. One other individual was injured. Additionally, a couple from Carriere was arrested on Monday and charged with fraudulently obtaining government benefits from Louisiana. Vincent DeLeon, 51, and Elina DeLeon, 35, allegedly concealed their place of residence and other information to receive Medicaid benefits from March 2023 to June 2025.

A Jones County woman is recovering from a dog attack. According to the sheriff's department, the attack occurred along Eastview Drive near the intersection of Smith Chapel Road. The victim told deputies she was walking along the road when four large dogs knocked her down and began mauling her. An unnamed good Samaritan helped her get away, transporting her to a nearby residence where she was able to call 911. Deputies returned to the scene to find the dogs and collect the woman's belongings, but were unable to find either.

The leaders of the Holly Springs Utility Department have been ordered to attend a hearing next month after an audit revealed the utility was headed toward a "death spiral". Chris Brown, the Chairman of the Mississippi Public Service Commission, says the utility is in crisis, and it's not uncommon for customers to go for hours without power, even on sunny days.
