A Mississippi man is being charged with sexual battery and aggravated domestic assault for an alleged brutal attack in Ellisville over the weekend. Tomoise Mcgilberry allegedly raped, beat, and then abandoned his partner on Saturday, leaving her bruised and bloodied at her home with no phone and no car. Ellisville officers worked together with the Petal police department to take Mcgilberry into custody at his workplace.

Jones County deputies were able to assist an elderly gentleman from Georgia during a traffic stop on Saturday. Law enforcement officers pulled over 75-year-old Ira Thomas Lee, of Donaldsonville, Georgia, on Saturday for driving erratically on Highway 29 North near the intersection of North Ridge Road. According to investigators, Lee was very confused and unsure of where he was. A deputy managed to locate the name and phone number of a relative, who told law enforcement officers Lee had been missing since noon on Friday.

The Marshall County Sheriff's Office is investigating an armed carjacking. According to TVMO, the incident occurred on June 5 at around 7:40 a.m. as the victim was driving along Kizer Mountain Road. The two suspects believed to be responsible for the carjacking were pulled over on the side of the road, making it look like their vehicle had broken down. When the victim approached to see if he could offer assistance, the perpetrators stole the victim's vehicle.

Two employees with the Jackson Public School District have been placed on administrative leave for the alleged improper disbursement of $221,000 discovered through an internal audit. According to WJTV, the alleged embezzlement case has been reported to the State Auditor's Office for further review. Plus, the Clarke County Sheriff's Department reported the death of a female inmate on Sunday morning. Investigators say she was found unresponsive in what appears to have been a suicide.
