77% of emergency department staff at hospitals across the country were exposed to violence in 2021. According to a study from National Nurses United, close to 82% of nurses experienced some workplace violence in 2023, and nearly half have seen a rise in violence rates inside health care settings. No threats were made and no one was harmed, but a handgun was found in an elementary school student's backpack in Starkville on Tuesday. School administrators at Henderson Ward Stewart Elementary say they were alerted by another student, and staff members recovered the gun. Plus, we're learning more about a shooting in Gulfport that took place near a restaurant where hundreds were gathered to celebrate Cinco de Mayo. 34-year-old Christopher Skinner was killed when a fight in the parking lot led to violence. He was shot multiple times and taken to a local hospital, but succumbed to his injuries.

Over 40 illegal aliens were rounded up on the coast in "Operation Magnolia", which was carried out during the last week of April.

According to the U.S. Border Patrol, 48 illegals from Mexico, Nicaragua, Kazakhstan, Honduras, Colombia, and Guatemala were taken into custody, and 3 U.S. citizens are facing federal charges.

One of the suspects facing charges in connection with the fatal mass shooting hours after Hal’s St. Paddy’s Parade in downtown Jackson has been denied bond. Michael McLeod, a former law enforcement officer at the University of Mississippi Medical Center, will remain behind bars on charges of murder and six counts of aggravated assault. Bond information has not been released for the other suspect, Marquavius McLeod, at this time.
