For MissNowMrs.com CEO Danielle Tate, failure was just a part of the process -- an opportunity to see, well, the opportunities! When she graduated with a degree in biology from college, but failed to get into medical school by just three seats, it lead her to a great opportunity. When she tried to change her name to the newly married last name and failed (three times, thanks to a clunky process!) yet another opportunity. When she failed to find a book that spoke to her and her experiences as a first-time woman entrepreneur in her 20s who didn't have business experience or an MBA, but had plenty of ideas -- yep, opportunity.
Today, as the founder of her multi-million dollar name-change company and author of the Amazon bestselling book, Elegant Entrepreneur: The Female Founders Guide to Starting & Growing Your First Company, Danielle travels the world sharing the journey of building a business (which has more than 300,000 customers and is in two countries) and empowering other women entrepreneurs. On this episode of the Support is Sexy podcast, she gives incredible tips on how to shift your perspective on failure, how to market and grow your business, and how to dispel the mean-girl myth.
On this episode you'll learn…
3 tips for women on how to research your target market.Insider tips on how to grow your business. How to protect yourself from copycats. The importance of meet-ups and authentic connections. Why you need to slow down. How to own it as an entrepreneur. Why she who dares wins.

From the time she was 5 years old and stealing pieces of foil from her mom's kitchen so she could craft pieces of jewelry and save them for the "business" she planned to open, Tamiko White knew she was meant to be an entrepreneur. And from the moment she saw (four times, that is) Stephanie Mills bring it "Home" during her performance in The Wiz on Broadway, Tamiko also knew that impacting people through the arts was also meant to be a part of her journey.
Today, as a style ambassador, branding expert, speaker, model, actress and educator who works with several global fashion brands, Tamiko is -- in one all-encompassing term -- storyteller.
Between meetings and appointments as she gears up for New York Fashion Week, we talk to the NYC native about the business of fashion, the evolution of fashion week and what designers, stylists and students all need to know before getting in the game.
On this episode you'll learn...
3 things you need to do to be a leader in the fashion business. What you need to know to make a pivot. The key element for building a fashion brand. How the fashion industry (and Fashion Week) have changed and why it all makes sense.Who really has the power in fashion. In business, the kind of support you need evolves. The remedy for "doing it all."

"I don't want to learn as I go. I want to learn...and then go!"
For Aliya S King, the word "entrepreneur" was always a scary, foreign thing. So after graduating college at Rutgers University, even though she always wanted to be a writer, the East Orange, NJ, native played it safe and became a teacher. And while she now realizes that she greatly impacted the lives of the students she taught for those couple of years, Aliya knew at that time that writing was her true calling. Ten years later, now a New York Times bestselling author and writer of award winning features, she realized it's also her business. On this episode of the Support is Sexy podcast, Aliya talks about her journey to create her new venture, WritewithAliya.com, recognizing your value, realizing the vital importance of self care, and how, at times, moving in slow motion makes a lot of sense.

I admit it: I've got some hangups. And as a woman entrepreneur, and someone who is on a journey of self discovery, I realize these hangups stand in my way. Until recently, I think I owned them -- dare I say embraced them -- as something that were just a part of me and who I am. But they don't have to be. I get to decide the kind of woman I want to be, and that kind of woman is one who doesn't let hangups about support and or fear of success stand in her way!
How did I come to this realization? As I mentioned, it's a journey, but along this journey it's people like the cool-as-hell radio show host Abbey Levine of LeVine Intervention, who hold up that all-so-important mirror and make me ask myself the tough questions. When I was a recent guest on Abbey's radio show, she dug in, and pushed me to see that yes, I am successful, and yes, I do deserve to be seen and yes, I deserve support because, hell, support is sexy!
I loved the interview so much that I asked Abbey if I could share it with you all on the Support is Sexy podcast, and she agreed. You'll hear me dive into where I think my hangups come from and what challenges I face, and hear me get vulnerable about my discomfort with being seen. Even what Abbey wrote in her description of my episode: "Elayne is a superwoman, reaching global audiences as CEO of Chic Rebellion Media, on the verge of Oprah-like status," made me recoil a little bit. I love it, sounds great! But who? Me???
Abbey's intervention helped me realize I gotta get over this, now, and that there are ways that this could be standing in my way not only of success, but, as I later realized, of helping others. I meditated on our conversation and what it revealed to me is this: My success means I will be able to be of more service to more people. Have a listen, and let our conversation be of service to you...
On this episode you'll learn...
The importance of asking yourself: "What would this look like if it were easy?"Let go of the how.Realizing when you're playing small. How fear of success and fear of being seen will hold you back.Contemplating what would be possible if you got your blockages out of the way.How to meditate on your success.Realizing there's no magic in perfection. There is no "they."Thank you for listening! Let's face it: Your inner critic is loud af. She means no harm; in fact, she's there because she wants to keep you safe. But what she ends up doing is keeping you small.
Your whisper, on the other hand, is affirming. She quietly encourages you to go big. Super big. Scary big. She knows it's what you need, she's clear that your magic exists outside of your comfort zone. Your whisper tells you to go there. She knows you can do it. She asks, why not you, and why not now?
On this episode, I share moments that we might encounter both of these voices, within our businesses and within our lives, and how to respond in those moments. Be aware of what you're paying the most attention to, where you're placing the most value. Trust your whisper -- she has your back.
On this episode you'll learn...
The difference between your inner critic and your whisper. What your inner critic says vs. what your whisper says and how to know the difference.Your bicycle will become a motorcycle. For now is not forever.Ask empowering questions. How your mistakes make you stronger.

For transformation coach Sylvia High, entrepreneurship was part of her life's journey. After many years of crushing it in corporate sales and reaping all of the perks of that success (the bonus checks, the company car, etc), Sylvia finally accepted her truth: This wasn't it, and there had to be something more. She didn't know the answer to what that more was, but she knew the question: Why am I here?
On this episode of the Support is Sexy podcast, Sylvia -- now an author, CEO of Aiming High, a speaker who has appeared at events for Oprah Winfrey and Tyler Perry, a consultant and coach to individuals, groups and companies around the world, and creator of the I Am Woman Conference -- dives deep on the importance of asking the empowering questions, and the moves you need to make when you get the answers. Plus she tackles knowing the difference between a good idea and a God idea.

For Sydney Campos, it's all very simple: She wants "people to be happy and to have fun." It's what she has wanted from the very beginning, since the time she was a little empathic girl growing up in San Francisco. Today, now thriving off the energy of New York, Sydney has created a business that has a similar vibe with her new company Make Only Magic. By combining marketing and branding support with coaching and holistic practices, Sydney helps her clients -- who she calls "conscious creators" -- realize pathways to compassion and connection through their brands and within their lives.
On this episode, Sydney talks about how to redefine and embrace the word magic; the shift in the business landscape that now has companies knowing how important it is to have more meaning; and how to create a business that taps into a mission bigger than itself.

For Juliana Marulanda, CEO of ScaleTime, her mom provided an early example of hustle that the then 7-year-old would never forget. Before Juliana realized it, she was learning important lessons about business, knowing your market, managing the money and more while she and her recently-laid-off-mom sold aguardiente -- a traditional Colombian liqueur -- in the streets of Queens, New York. What she learned the most was the importance of realizing that opportunities are around you no matter what's happening in the market, and that your job is to figure out how to solve a problem and be of service to people.
Since then, Juliana has looked at the best ways that she can serve her clients of entrepreneurs, who are scaling their businesses. On this episode she talks about the importance of delegating, how to avoid burnout, how to manage your time and why, as an entrepreneur, you need to get a life!

Pamela Macklin always knew she was meant to be three things: a leader, a creative and an educator. Over the past 20+ years in the fashion industry – as a style director for Essence magazine and an image maker, who has created looks for — and told the stories of — some of the most iconic people in the entertainment industry, she has been able to explore all of those parts of herself.
Most recently, the Fashion Institute of Technology instructor celebrated her latest creation, an event called #TALKINGBEAUTY, which evolved from an idea that came to her one afternoon while lounging in her place in New Jersey. The event brings together women for food, fellowship and honest conversation about beauty and what they want from the products they use. On this episode, Pamela talks about what putting on the event taught her about overcoming fear, taking inspired action, the importance of partnering and the beauty of expansion.
And Pamela's key question that kept her motivated? "Why not??? DO!"
