Surfers and beach lovers, listen up! The coastal waters of North and South Carolina have officially closed their surf forecast chapter for the 2024 season. As of tonight at 7:10 PM, the National Weather Service in Wilmington has wrapped up its daily surf zone reports for the regions spanning from Pender County, North Carolina, all the way down to Georgetown, South Carolina.
From the pristine shores of Surf City and Topsail Beach to the sun-soaked stretches of Wrightsville, Carolina, and Kure Beaches, the surfing season has come to a temporary pause. Our beloved coastal havens including Bald Head Island, Oak Island, and the charming Holden Beach are now bidding farewell to this year's wave reports.
But don't hang up those boards just yet! The South Carolina beaches from Cherry Grove to Myrtle Beach, including those sweet spots like Atlantic Beach and Surfside, are also signing off for the winter.
Mark your calendars, wave riders - the NWS Wilmington will resurrect these epic surf zone forecasts on April 1st, 2025. That means a few months of anticipation, gear maintenance, and dreaming of the perfect swell.
Until then, keep your wetsuits dry, your boards waxed, and your stoke high. The ocean might be taking a break, but your passion never rests. See you when the waves call us back in the spring!
Stay salty, beach warriors!
