I needed to gasp some air with which I then explained how rude I had found their behaviour. That I had been standing next to them like a gobshite, having been left out of their exchange. When I had finished, they looked at me, then at each other and nodded. Yet again, I wanted to point out that I was standing right there, but I kept my mouth shut as Mr. Respect began speaking:
“Thank you for letting us know that you have so little regard for us.” He laid is arm around his wife’s back, nodded, and they walked away.
I nearly choked on my own spit when I heard Mrs. Respect saying to her husband: “A quite poor soul, never seemed to have learned that respect is something you have to give yourself first before it was deserved from others.”
