“Many of us were shamed, verbally and/or physically abused, and emotionally neglected, and were taught to believe we were loved. . . LOVE is a mixture of ingredients: care, affections, recognition, respect, commitment, trust, as well as honest open communication"- bell hooks
This week, I discuss the recent events that have caused me to question the love that we have learned so much about in the evangelical church--a love that often feels obligatory and binding, rather than freely given. A love that never seems to include people like me--a Black, queer, fat, disabled, nonbinary person. In this episode, I try to unpack this and redefine love for the sake of a healthier understanding and identity.
