We’re back for season two, which is super exciting, but first and foremost, I want to express my gratitude for the success of season one. I was able to interview so many incredible women about their journeys in sustainability and learn from them. I want to take a quick trip back in time and highlight some of the information and tips that they shared on the podcast in case you missed it.

Women of color are starting business faster than any other demographic. It's so exciting to see women of color starting businesses, and more specifically, starting sustainable businesses. Although long distance travel is off the table for many Americans for the foreseeable future, Travel is an important part of so many people's lives. Being able to explore a new place is one of life's greatest pleasures. However, for those of us interested in sustainability, we understand the environmental impacts that travel may bring. I'm so excited to speak to our guest today to learn more about this topic. 

Today's featured sustainable brown girl is Ashley Renne, a photographer, creative director, blogger, and on-camera host with a passion for travel and green living. Ashley's content centers around eco travel, vegan lifestyle, and smart tech. We'll be talking to Ashley about how to travel sustainably (once it's safe to do so), how smart tech ties into sustainability, and her new role as Creative Counsel Board Member for Climate Power 2020.

Raya is a member of the New York State Climate Action Council, the body that is developing the plan to implement the United States' leading climate law. She is also the Policy Organizer for New York Renews and editor of "Energy Justice." Intersectionality is a word that we've probably heard a lot more over the past few months. Although the term is new to me, the idea behind it is why I created Sustainable Brown Girl. I think many other women of color within the sustainability space also understand the importance of intersectionality, and today's guest is no different. 

Lauren Ritchie, is a 19 year old Bahamas native, a Columbia University student, a climate activist, and the founder of The Eco Gal blog. We'll be talking to Lauren about her sustainability journey, the reception of climate change in the Bahamas, and why recognizing intersectionality within climate activism is so important.

In a society in which we are constantly exposed to advertisement encouraging us to buy the latest and greatest products, it's no wonder that many of us overconsume and fill our homes with too much stuff.

Although some people have been living minimalist lifestyles for decades, the idea became more mainstream with Japanese author, Marie Kondo's book The Life-Changing Magic of Tidying Up, which was further popularized with a subsequent Netflix series. 

With more people decluttering their closets and downsizing their living spaces, I wanted to talk to Sadie Daffer, the creator of The Mixed Up Minimalist blog, which focuses on minimalism, zero waste, and making sustainable life changes. In this episode we will be talking to this sustainable brown girl about the connection between minimalism and sustainability.
