Shor Se Dhun Tak (From Noise to Melody)
Dekho na ek din, ek hafta,
(See how a day, a week,)
Ek mahina aur saalon tak guzar gaya,
(A month, and even years have passed,)
Par yeh duniya ke shor,
(Yet the world's endless buzz,)
Aur in roz ki galliyon se;
(And these ever-crossing streets,)
Wahi purani aawaazein,
(The same old voices,)
Aaj bhi goonjti hi rehti hain.
(Still echo to this day.)
Us raftar se dadakte dil ki;
(The racing beat of the heart,)
Khud ki bhi ek aawaaz hai!
(Carries a voice of its own!)
Woh khwahishein jo hum sab ne dekhi hain;
(The wishes we have all dreamt of,)
Kuch waqt ke liye hi sahi,
(Even if only for a little while,)
Iss duniya se pare;
(Unknown to this world,)
Kahin door ghoom ho jaane ki.
(To wander far away,)
Jahan par rahe sirf yeh khula aasmaan,
(Where only the open sky remains,)
Zameen aur unke beech yeh dadakta hua dil.
(The earth below, and in between, this throbbing heart.)
Auron ke liye toh yeh roz dadakta aaya hai;
(Which has always beaten for others—)
Iss baar khud ke liye bhi dadakne do.
(Now, let it beat for itself too.)
Chaaron aur jheel ho,
(Surrounded on all sides by a vast lake,)
Aur beech mein ek tairte hue naav mein main;
(And in the middle, I drift in a floating boat,)
Us doobte hue sooraj ke saath-saath;
(Alongside the sinking sun,)
Inn khano mein basse shor ko bhi doobne do;
(Let the noise trapped in these ears submerge too,)
Taaki us ugte hue sooraj ke saath,
(So that with the rising sun,)
Wahi shor dhun ban kar laut aaye.
(The same noise returns as a melody.)
