This weeks guest has had an illustrious career in 2 of Australia’s most prominent spheres. Anna Bligh AC, former premier of QLD and now CEO of the Australian Banking Association has had a career that has seen her leave a lasting impact on the state of Queensland and now more broadly the whole of Australia.
Starting out as an Arts student with a keen interest in politics at the University of Queensland, as Anna tells us during the interview, it was her motivation to address the issue of domestic violence that initially spurred her into the political arena. As she grew and got some of that crucial life experience that Anna explains as pivotal to a career in politics, she had a vision for the state of QLD that would ultimately see her succeed Peter Beattie and be elected by the state of QLD to return as premier in the 2009 election, becoming the first popularly elected female premier in Australia in doing so.
Her leadership during the QLD floods was globally recognized as the state looked to their leader during the turmoil. She also led some of the largest economic reform QLD has seen along with introducing Prep year in schools and fluoride into our water.
Now, Anna heads up the Australian Banking Association and ensures the banking system’s stability for all bank customers.
