Today I am joined by professional artist Rosa Nussbaum, talking about the difficulties and rewards of building a career in art, how secondary education can have benefits and struggles, and more! I was lucky to have met Rosa during my first photography job at my internship at Women & Their Work Gallery in Austin, TX. She is a British/German artist who works at the intersection of performance and sculpture with an emphasis on interactivity and technology. Her work explores the place where the (female) body touches the institution. She received her BFA from Wimbledon College of Arts, London, UK in 2014 and her MFA in Studio Art: Transmedia from the University of Texas at Austin in 2018.

August 03, 2020 I Don't Know What It Means To Be Hispanic or Latinx
Today's episode involves a lot of personal tension with the subject of racial, ethnic, and cultural identity. Growing up in America as a second-generation Latinx/Hispanic, I have felt a divide between what I see socially and politically in what it means to be either. Today, I look into the history of what those words mean and whether I identify with them or not. There's a lot of repetition of words and phrases, but it's hopefully all to make a point in the end about where I stand with this subject. This could be a continuing series for all I know, but we'll see. Stay tuned.

In light of what has been happening in the media with Kanye West lately, I wanted to share my opinion on the matter as well as try to start a conversation on why we shouldn't look at the surface as having all of the information. It's my birthday! In this episode, I talk things that have piqued my interest lately -- comics, tv shows, art, etc. -- as well as reflect on the past year, the struggles it brought, and what positive influences it has caused to push me to move forward. I hope others can take some advice if they're going through similar struggles with anxiety and I can't wait to see what the future has in store beyond this past year.
(Also, this is my first time recording alone but with someone in my apartment, so enjoy a small snippet of my boyfriend annoying me while I set up at the beginning.)
