This week on Sweet Baby Gay Abbey and Reed continue their conversation about the identities within the LGBTQIA+ community and talk about the word Queer.

Queer is a word that has such a complicated history, and some people in our community are still uncomfortable using this word. But for a large portion of our community, especially the young community, it has become an important identity. It is a word that encompasses so many sexualities and gender identities without exclusions. It is a word that shows our strength and community.

So join us as we talk about the origins of the word, why it became a slur, and how our community has taken it back!

In this weeks episode Abbey and Reed begin to discuss the different acronyms and identities that make up our queer community. The full acronym is LGBTIAAQQPP+, but we commonly use LGBTQIA+. Since there are SO MANY different ways people in our community identify, we thought we would start with the baseline for that we have built our community from, LGBT.

I know what you are thinking "I know what those are, I don't have anything to learn!" But I learned so much when making this episode! We talk about the origins of the terms and different people who represent our community. So take a listen and see if you learn anything!
