This episode begins with a very sad Sam. We discuss the ending of the Eras Tour and how it's finally hitting us! What is Taylor planning for the Vancouver shows? What does her countdown mean? Rachel gets into the holiday spirit with her new shit this week. What a crazy Swiftie universe we live in where Jason Kelce and Stevie Nicks are recording songs together! The song we discuss today was so much fun getting into! The cocktails were side car and mai tai inspired. Is Taylor singing about her own life? Is she using fictional narrative to reflect her own personal journey as a “bolter?” Let us know your thoughts in the comments!

Ooooooo we did it! I think we did it! We succesfully got through our second of TWO back-to-back episode recordings. Rachel tells a story of her Taylor Swift trivia performance. It wasn't very redemptive. And Sam forgets all about the significance of olives in his Olive Garden cocktail! Speaking of Olive Garden, we go on quite a tangent about why Taylor chose Olive Garden as the restaurant feature of track 6 off Evermore. Rachel has a deep theory that Este and Taylor (narrator) are the same person in this song. "Hear me out," she begs. We're listening, Rachel. This song was so fun to break down and sip cocktails to. We hope you've got one in your hand as you tune in! Check out our "new shit" playlist: https://open.spotify.com/playlist/5LOn9LRJ8lnvnCbpl6fKVG?si=2ffe87e075a543f1
It's starting to get chilly over here at Swift and Swigs. Taylor's first ever vulnerable track 5 had us swigging and swifting over young Taylor's song-writing, and the questionable boys she fell for. But first, we react on-air to the Grammy nominations!!! Some of the nominees did not surprise us. Others certainly did! We are so excited to continue talking about the upcoming Grammys in future episodes leading to the big night on 2/2/25. The "new shit" was actually a grammy nominee and a recurring band that we love to discuss on this podcast! Sam took the easy route with his cocktail, and Rachel took an autumnal and very cold route with hers. Then we start to break down the song that made Taylor so frustrated during her teenaged years. We learn what Taylor valued in a relationship back then and we compare it to her songwriting themes of current songs. The mashup options seemed almost endless for this one!

We're back for another TTPD song, and a fan favorite at that! Before discussing track 4 off of Taylor's latest album, the sibs tackle a popular theory: Debutation! Is Taylor going to release Taylor Swift (Taylor's Version) and Reputation (Taylor's Version) at the same time? What are her latest outfits and surprise song choices telling us? Both sibs bring forth the same artist for the "new shit" category. Don't forget you can find our playlist of every song discussed under the new shit segment at the link above! Finally we get to discuss this amazing song that has us both staring at the sky and waving for the metaphorical UFO to beam us up into this soundscape. Jack Antonoff worked miracles with the production for this song and we waste no time discussing our thoughts on it. Taylor was very revealing in this song to her fans, and she certainly calls us out! Is it sad? Yes. Do we want to twerk? Absolutely. "Fuck it I was in love"... with this song!

We were so excited to get into another Red song for this episode! But first, we discuss all the excitement of the New Orleans Eras Tour! Including the lengths that Sam went to in order for Rachel to experience the Sabrina Carpenter moment on stage. We also discuss the difficulty that is staying up late, especially for the final show of the Eras Tour in Vancouver. Sam finally secured his ticket to see Coldplay and Aunt Trish (famous Swiggie) gets a special shoutout. The new shit is James Bay (new to Rachel) and Niceboy Ed. We've also FINALLY compiled an entire playlist with every song we've ever mentioned on our "new shit" segment. We will be updating that playlist weekly along with the release of every podcast episode. The cocktails were warm and spiced (ground spices, to be exact). The discussion of the song had us debating the "ooo-ay's" of it all. Sam fathoms what the equivalent of girls spinning in brand new dresses is to men. The movie 10 Things I Hate About You makes yet another apperance. And of course, the significance of the song "Holy Ground" is discussed in full.
In this week's episode, we revisit Taylor's sophomore album, Fearless! But first, we discuss the new Eras Tour Book and the changes our girl Taylor has recently made to the eras tour after her stint in Miami. And also what we expect re: Reputation Taylor's Version and the final day of the show in Vancouver. Gracie Abrams and Bon Iver are mentioned in our "new shit" segment. The song of the week tells a "breakup story" that's quite different from anything we've really heard before. Rachel explains to Sam the Gilmore Girls crossover and we both make connections from this song to various rom-coms. Also, can Taylor apply this song to her current relationship with Travis Kelce? Or do we think she can apply this song to the ending of her relationship with Joe Alwyn? She just wants to feel something!
Well, well, well. Taylor Swift, you have EVERY reason to be mad in this song. We hear you and we empathize with you! But first, we discuss our thoughts on the upcoming leg of the Eras Tour. Will the setlist change? Songs added/removed? Are we clowning for Reputation Taylor's Version? We inch ever closer to our 100th episode and we drop a little hint that something exciting will happen. We bring more mocktail energy this episode before we dig into this powerful TTPD song. Rachel connects Taylor's experience to that of Chappel Roan and Britney Spears. Sam analyzes his relationship with Taylor Swift and why he loves her so much. Is it our responsibilty as fans to stand up to her? We hope you enjoy this episode as much as we did recording it!
Sam was feeling nostalgic after coming off the 89th episode, so he chose a song that documents Taylor's struggles throughout her life! The episode begins with acknowledging that we’re still in a quiet Taylor era, but at least we got some glitter freckles out of her recent appearance at the Chiefs game! Stevie Nicks enters the chat and so does Coldplay, as we discuss the new shit we’ve been listening to. Sam reveals he’s taking part in “Sober October,” so mocktails are the name of the game moving forward with the next few episodes. We breakdown the spirit, musical mixology, and Taylor with a Twist for this iconic track 5. Let us know your thoughts on this song and what Taylor is trying to convey with this EPIC bridge!
It's our 89th episode, and that means we HAD to commemorate the occasion with a song from 1989 (Taylor's Version)! We ramble for quite a bit at the beginning, but it’s productive rambling, we swear! Both of us bring an artist who’s opened for the Eras Tour as our new shit, but two different musicians. The song we discuss today is incredibly important in the lore behind 1989 Taylor Swift and what she was going through at the time of writing that record. Harry Styles, are you still thinking about her too??
Another quiet week in the Taylor Swift world means the intro to our podcast is now a game show! We try to play a Taylor Swift game and, although we got the end point of it all, it definitely took us a while and a lot of laughts to get there. The new shit is inspired by Beyonce and our familial connection we share with an incredible artist who's worked with her! Then we get into the cocktails which lean heavy into the puns. The song we discuss is one the most ICONIC off of TTPD and, although Taylor's been broken hearted for a lot of her life, this song serves as a reminder that she CAN do it. What is "it?" It's perfoming on the Eras Tour and being the icon that she is, of course!
