The loss of All That Remains guitarist, Oli Herbert, has been a difficult one for fans. But Oli's loss has been a trying one for Phil Labonte. Although Phil now has to deal with the endless questions regarding Oli, but there is difficulty in understanding a life without Oli in All That Remains.
Out of respect for Phil, today's interview tried to remember Oli for what he had given to the world. As you will hear, Phil shares that he can't disclose too much about Oli because of the ongoing investigation surrounding Oli's death. Therefore, Part 1 of today's interview tries to focus on what we remember best about Oli and his impact on Phil, the band and the world.
I promise, today's interview isn't all sad. There are some funny moments that you will hear when my colleague, Bret Vesely, shares a special encounter with Oli a few years back.

Part 3 of my interview with David dove deeper into David's coffee addiction which somehow led into a conversation about cats. I today's episode, David shares an amusing story on how he had an affinity for cats when he decided to get sober.
And David shares some of his father's advice when it came to becoming famous and shares the type of work ethic he learned when he was a child.
Also, he relates his work ethic with his desire to go back to college. He will tell the story about the first time he enrolled in a college in Scottsdale, Arizona and what he did to maintain his anonymity.
Then Shannon recalls a conversation where he overheard David compare Lamb of God to Pantera. What he says is not what you think he'll say.
There is so much packed in this last part. Enjoy!

The second part of my interview, with Megadeth bassist David Ellefson, explores the early days of the band and its evolution. With clear similarities to Metallica during the early 80s, David shares some of his stories and perspective of how Megadeth evolved. In one particular account, David talks about a letter a fan wrote to the band and how this letter possibly changed the trajectory of who Megadeth became.
David shares solid advice for up and coming musicians thinking that being in a band should reward immediate rewards and tons of money. He uses the girls from the band Doll Skin as an example of how he guides them in the right direction in the music industry.
The conversation then transitions to David and his coffee business. David will describe the correlations to starting a coffee company and starting a band.

Back in June of 2018, I had a chance to sit down with Nonpoint drummer, Rob Rivera, at Club Red in Mesa, Arizona.
Nonpoint was finishing up the last few shows of their tour before heading home to be with family. This was a chance for me to follow-up with Rob from a year prior when I interviewed him for my other podcast, Be The Experience. Click here for that podcast. My chat with Rob on that podcast are in the first two episodes.
Since being diagnosed as diabetic, Rob has made no bones about his condition and what he did to overcome it. Fast forward to June of 2018 and Rob shares his progress on where he is in his life mentally, personally and physically.

We pick up Part 2 of my interview with Jamey Jasta and Howard Jones when they visited the 98 KUPD studios in May of 2018.
Today you will hear Jamey talk about the reasons why he chooses to be clean and sober and how it not only affected his on stage performance, but what it did to the fans.
Also, we will dive into a story that Jamey tests out on our podcast first before he releases it on his own podcast recording for later that night. This whole story involves Roger Miret from Agnostic Front and how he was a "tour guide" to touring in Chile. The listener should learn what Roger's favorite food is by the end of the story.
And Jamey and Howard jump into the business of selling merchandise and share some very basic strategies about selling merch, understanding whether merch is doable on a touring budget and how to sell merch in unusual circumstances.

Thanks for listening this week!
Today we go back into the unreleased archives and share a podcast I did with Jamey Jasta of Hatebreed and Howard Jones from Light The Torch and Killswitch Engage.
Jamey and Howard happened to be passing through town on this particular occasion to see Suicidal Tendencies at the Marquee Theater on May 10th. As a result, they showed up a day early to record an episode of the Jasta Podcast and agreed to come in and help us create this episode for the Swing Shift Side Hustle.
Today is Part 1 of this episode where I dig into:
• Jamey and Howard's thoughts on social media.
• How Jamey fought the idea of social media, but learned to embrace it with his band and his podcast.
• Where he acquired his business knowledge for his band, podcast and brand.
• How Howard keeps himself busy when he's not making an album or on tour.
• Howard's past with drugs and fame and what he did to get over it.
Today's podcast is filled with a ton of great moments where it is informative, yet still fun to listen to.

This week I had a chance to sit down with rocker, Danko Jones, before his show at Pub Rock Live in Scottsdale, Arizona. This was an interview that had been planned a few weeks in advance thanks to my co-worker, Bret Vesely.
When the idea of interviewing Danko Jones happened, we called on Bret to arrange a time to sit down and talk with Danko since he has connections with Danko's tour manager.
Today we sit down and have a light conversation with Danko Jones about the type of food he eats while out on tour; Canadian rock music and the bands he grew up listening to in Canada; What CanCon really means; places he loves to eat when he's in Arizona; and his insight and comparison to Greta Van Fleet and the German band, Kingdom Come.
We also dive into thoughts about the biggest rock band today and what their impact has been on the music scene.
In light of the last two interviews for this program, it was nice to have a nice, fun conversation with someone like Danko and have a few laughs.
Big thanks to Bret Vesely for setting up this interview and I hope you enjoy it.
