    All Swiss Birth Stories Episodes

Anna, a Swiss mom living in Zurich, shares two very different birth stories of her two daughters. Pregnant soon after deciding to try, she miscarried, then conceived again and prepared with yoga, a birth course, and a doula. Her first baby stayed in the breech position; she switched from Klinik im Park to Triemli Stadtspital Zürich to attempt a vaginal breech birth. Anna tried various turning methods, and began labor after a castor oil cocktail, but after slow dilation and the baby not descending, chose a calm cesarean and met her daughter with skin-to-skin. Postpartum was tough with C-section recovery, painful breastfeeding, and her partner’s depression. In her second pregnancy, she again hired a doula, chose Klinik im Park in Zurich with a supportive gynecologist, and achieved a VBAC with epidural and vacuum assistance, describing the moment her baby lay on her chest as healing, supported by a stable partnership, protected postpartum boundaries, and flexible feeding.

    Highlights:
    • A pregnancy with a breech presentation and a choice to attempt a vaginal birth
    • The power of doula support
    • Pregnancy and early parenthood during a partner's mental health struggles
    • A calm, unplanned transition to a C-section after a long labor
    • A successful VBAC on the second birth, including a vacuum delivery she wasn't prepared for
    • How the second postpartum healed the first

    Common Questions This Episode Answers
    1. "What happens if my baby is breech & do I have to have a C-section?"
    2. "Is a doula worth it, and how do I find the right one?"
    3. "What's an epidural or vacuum delivery actually like?"
    4. "Can you have a vaginal birth after a C-section (VBAC) in Switzerland, and what does that process involve?"
    5. "Why is breastfeeding so hard and is it ok to combo feed or stop?"

  • Cross-Border Financial Planning for Americans in Singapore

Americans living in Singapore sit inside one of the most favorable tax environments for Roth conversions anywhere in the world. No capital gains tax, no dividend tax, and the conversion itself isn't taxed locally. Most are not using it, and most of their advisors do not even know it is available.

Anne-Marie Regal founder of Avrio Wealth, built one of the first dual-licensed MAS and SEC fiduciary practices for US-connected families in Singapore. She shares what that planning opportunity looks like in practice, what the CPF gets wrong for Americans, and the financial mistakes she unwinds with new clients every week.

    ──────────────────────────────────────────

    CHAPTER TIMESTAMPS

16:48 — The Roth conversion window Americans in Singapore are not using

  • Rethinking Your Pricing Strategy: From Coffee Coaching to Scalable Offers with Josefine Wanner

How do your pricing decisions change as your business evolves? In this conversation with Josefine Wanner, we talk about her journey from setting her first coaching prices (and even trading sessions for coffee) to building scalable offers and making more deliberate pricing decisions.

We get into why she stopped calculating what she earns per hour, the math behind low-ticket offers, when a low price can be an intentional entry point, and why comparing your prices with other coaches only gets you so far. Josefine also shares what happened when two unhappy clients made her question a $2,000 program — and why she went back to the evidence before deciding what to do.

Plus, we talk about testing your pricing and offers long enough to learn what works for your business.

  • Kombucha! What's all the fuss? ft. Gina Steinhauser, Swiss Kombucha Company

    Got Booch?

Ever grabbed a kombucha off the shelf thinking you're doing your gut a favor? Yeah… about that. In this episode, we sit down with Gina, founder of the Swiss Kombucha Company, to blow the lid off what's actually in most store-bought kombucha—and spoiler alert, a lot of it isn't even kombucha. Gina takes us behind the scenes of her journey from brewing 200 liters a month in her sticky kitchen to visiting 30+ breweries across North America and Europe (pretending to write a blog that never happened) to launching her own company. What started as a personal quest to manage food allergies turned into a full-blown mission to make the real deal—no concentrates, no pasteurization, no BS.

But this conversation goes way beyond the bottle. We get into the gut-brain connection, why your "healthy" yogurt probably isn't doing what you think it is, and the infuriating reality of being a woman whose doctor Googles your symptoms on Wikipedia and tells you you're too fat to have Celiac disease.

    What You'll Learn:

    1. What kombucha actually is—and the three ways producers fake it
    2. Why shelf-stable kombucha is never real kombucha
    3. The cheap tool that reveals how much sugar is really in your bottle vs. what the label claims
    4. Green and white tea over black—and why heavy metals matter
    5. Food allergies vs. food sensitivities: why doctors miss the slow ones
    6. Why kombucha is gut-friendly but NOT a probiotic supplement
    7. Danna's PSA: if you have histamine intolerance, fermented foods might be making things worse

    Real Talk Moments:

Gina shares the jaw-dropping story of being dismissed by a doctor who pulled up Wikipedia to prove she couldn't have Celiac disease—because she wasn't thin enough. Danna opens up about being told her 25-symptom list was "all in her head" and getting put on antidepressants instead of being properly tested. And the whole crew gets fired up about the quick-fix culture that taught us to reach for a pill instead of questioning what's on our plate—while we spend hours scrolling Facebook saying we "don't have time" to cook.

Gina's Pro Tips for Finding Real Kombucha:

    1. If it's not refrigerated, it's not real kombucha
    2. Contact the producer—ask if they filter, pasteurize, or use a concentrate (if they don't respond, that's your answer)
    3. Check the sugar content yourself with a BRIX meter—if the label is lying about sugar, what else are they lying about?

  • Raising Kids Across Three Countries as an Expat Parent

Her mother-in-law's advice was that crying helps babies develop their lungs. The advice from home was the opposite. Sasha Romary was raising her first child in Paris, caught between two cultures that agreed on almost nothing.

In this episode, Sasha shares what it was like becoming a mother in France, then Singapore, then Germany, and what pushed her to become a sleep and parenting coach: the isolation of getting contradictory advice in two languages, the shame of a crying baby in a quiet Parisian café, and the much harder fight to get a child who didn't fit the local school system the support he needed. She and Arielle also get into how a child's age changes what kind of school will actually work abroad, and why "home," for a family that moves often, ends up being less about the address and more about the traditions a family carries with them.

  • Why am I the bottleneck in my own business?

Click to start your Business Reality Check

“I Was the Problem and I Didn't Know It”

Sometimes the thing slowing the business down is not the market, the team, or the timing. It is the founder who has become so central to everything that the business cannot grow without cracking.

    What You'll Learn:

The Hook: Why founders often look everywhere else for the problem before realizing they may be the bottleneck.

Reality Check: Linda shares the story of a founder who thought she was holding the business together, but was actually holding it back.

The Shift: The “load-bearing wall” analogy shows how being indispensable can quietly turn from competence into constraint.

The Move: Four places to look when your business feels stuck:

    • Delegation: Clarify who owns the work, who decides, who gives input, and who needs updates.
    • Data: Choose three numbers that show the health and impact of the business.
    • Planning: Set three quarterly priorities and protect one weekly strategic thinking block.
    • Systems: Document the three most critical processes and automate what you can.

The Wrap: Start by asking where you are still the answer to a question that should have a different answer by now.

Key Takeaway: Being indispensable can feel like competence, but it may be the very thing keeping your business stuck.

    FAQs This Episode Answers:

How do I know if I am the bottleneck in my own business? If every decision, approval, question, or problem has to go through you before the team can move, you may have become the bottleneck. The episode explains how being useful and indispensable can feel like competence, while quietly slowing the business down.

What should I do when my business depends too much on me? Start by identifying which parts of the business truly need you and which ones only run through you out of habit. Then look at the four likely pressure points: delegation, data, planning, and systems. Pick the one costing you the most right now and start there.

How can founders stop holding their team back? Founders can stop holding the team back by clarifying ownership, choosing a few meaningful metrics, protecting strategic planning time, and documenting the processes that keep the business running. The goal is not to disappear from the business, but to move support into the right places so the team can act without waiting on you.

  • The 5 Love Languages (Plus 2 Danna Made Up) - So Frickin' Mini

Got 10 Minutes? Speaking Your Partner's Language (No, Not That One)

It came up on the last So Frickin' Healthy Live. It keeps coming up in conversations. And honestly, it should come up more — because most relationship friction isn't about not loving each other enough, it's about not speaking the same language. Danna and Megan break down all five love languages, share what's working (and what took years to figure out) in their own marriages — and Danna officially adds two more to the list that Gary Chapman somehow missed.

Spoiler: one involves food. The other involves roasting your loved ones into the ground. Both are valid.

    What You'll Learn:

    1. The five love languages — and why knowing yours changes everything
    2. Why "receiving gifts" doesn't make you materialistic (it's about being thought of, not the thing)
    3. The sneaky reason most people give love in the language they want to receive — and why that backfires
    4. How Danna cracked the code with her Swiss husband and words of affirmation
    5. Danna's two unofficial additions to the list: feeding people and taking the piss
    6. Why love languages aren't just for couples — they work for kids, friendships, all of it

That's your 10 minutes. Go take the quiz. Then make your partner take it. Then maybe feed them something.

Want a full episode on this — possibly with the husbands in tow? Drop us a message and let us know. (Megan's husband will need two beers first. Noted.)

  • When Customers Push Back on Price: Why Discounting Isn't the First Move

When a customer says, “That’s too expensive,” it’s easy to assume the price is the problem — and reach for a discount. But pricing pushback can have very different things behind it, from timing and priorities to how the customer sees the value.

This Is Harder than I Want It To Be: Season 2—What Happens After Things Break

Linda van Egmond introduces Season 2 of "This is Harder Than I Want It To Be," focused on what happens after failures and breakdowns in leadership, teams, systems, or growth.

She argues that failure is part of good leadership and highlights founders who acknowledge mistakes and fix them. Unlike Season 1, which covered shifts made before things break, this season begins each episode with a real failure from her or founders she has worked with, then examines what went wrong, why it happened, and the specific move that turned it around.

Drawing on about 20 years of experience, she emphasizes that the fix is rarely a dramatic overhaul and is often smaller and closer to home.
