  • Know Christ and make Him known
Welcome to Sylvan Way and thanks for joining us as we worship Jesus!

Title: Know Christ and make Him known

In Ephesians 2:10, Paul reminds us that God did not just save us from sin; He saved us for a purpose. We are God’s workmanship, created in Christ for good works, called to walk in what God has prepared for us.

Big Idea: Know Christ and make Him known.

    In this message:
    1. You are God’s workmanship
    2. You are created in Christ for good works
    3. You are saved to live for God’s purpose
    4. Takeaway: You were not saved by works, but you were saved for a life that points people to Jesus.

Next Step: Ask this week: “Lord, what good work have You placed in front of me today?”

    5. By Grace Through Faith | Grace Does Not Excuse Sin
Welcome to Sylvan Way and thanks for joining us as we worship Jesus!

Title: By Grace Through Faith | Grace Does Not Excuse Sin

What does it mean to be saved by grace through faith?

In Ephesians 2:8–9, Paul gives one of the clearest summaries of the gospel: salvation is not earned by works, but received as a gift from God. But to understand grace, we first need to understand who God is.

God is love, and God is holy. Because God is holy, sin must be judged. Because God is love, sinners can be saved. At the cross, God’s holiness and love meet—Jesus pays the price for sin so that dead sinners can be made alive in Christ.

This message unpacks the danger of reducing God to only love without holiness, or only wrath without mercy. The biblical gospel gives us both: we were dead in sin and deserving judgment, but God, rich in mercy, saved us by grace through faith.

Big Idea: Grace does not excuse sin; grace raises dead sinners to life.

      Message Outline

      1. God is holy, so sin must be judged
Sin separates us from God, earns death, and requires judgment.

      2. God is love, so sinners can be saved
God does not leave us dead in sin. He moves toward us in mercy through Jesus.

      3. Salvation is by grace, so no one can boast

Grace is not God helping the deserving. Grace is God saving the dead.

Takeaway: Grace does not excuse sin. Grace raises dead sinners to life.

Come to God with empty hands, trust what Christ has done, and live this week like grace has made you alive.

    6. But God | From Death to Life - Ephesians 2:1–7
Welcome to Sylvan Way and thanks for joining us as we worship Jesus!

Title: But God | From Death to Life (Ephesians 2:1–7)

      Description:
Two words change everything: But God.
In Ephesians 2:1–7, we see the gospel clearly: you were dead in sin, but God made you alive in Christ. Not by effort, but by His mercy and grace.
This message calls you to stop living like you’re still dead and start living on mission: loving others and helping them find life in Jesus.

      Big Idea:
Dead in sin. Made alive in Christ. Now live on mission.

      Outline:
      1. You were dead in sin (vv. 1–3)
      2. But God moved toward you (vv. 4–5)
      3. In Christ, you are made alive and sent (vv. 5–7)

      Takeaway:
Stop living like you’re dead. Start living on mission.

    7. What Happens When You Truly Know God? Ephesians 1:15–23
Welcome to Sylvan Way and thanks for joining us as we worship Jesus!

Title: What Happens When You Truly Know God? (Ephesians 1:15–23)

      Description:
What does faith look like and how does it actually change your life?
In Ephesians 1:15–23, Paul shows us that faith in Christ is not just something you believe—it’s something that transforms how you live. Real faith shows up in love, grows through knowing God, and lives from the hope, identity, and power God has already given.
In this message, we unpack how knowing God deeply leads to a life that is visibly different.

Big Idea: Know God. Live Changed.

      In this message:
      • How faith produces love for others
      • Why knowing God matters more than changing your circumstances
      • How to live from the hope, identity, and power God has already given
      • Scripture: Ephesians 1:15–23

Takeaway: Don’t just try harder; know God deeper.

Next Step: This week, spend time daily in Ephesians 1:15–23 and ask:
        • Where do I need to grow in love?
        • Am I living with gratitude or focused on myself?
        • What do I need to know about God more this week?
        • Live it out: Know God this week and live changed.

        • Blessed in Christ | Chosen by the Father, Redeemed by the Son, Sealed by the Spirit
Welcome to Sylvan Way and thanks for joining us as we worship Jesus!

Title: Blessed in Christ | Chosen by the Father, Redeemed by the Son, Sealed by the Spirit

Description: What do you really have in Christ?

In Ephesians 1:3–14, Paul reminds us that those who are in Christ by faith have every spiritual blessing of salvation. This message walks through three powerful truths:
          1. In Christ, you are chosen by the Father
          2. In Christ, you are redeemed by the Son
          3. In Christ, you are sealed by the Spirit
          4. Because of Jesus, you are not rejected, condemned, or uncertain. In Christ, you are chosen, forgiven, and secure.
Main takeaway: Live this week from your blessing, not for it.

            Scripture: Ephesians 1:3–14

Each day this week, read Ephesians 1:3–14 and ask: Which blessing do I need to live from today: chosen, forgiven, or sealed?

If this message encouraged you, share it with someone who needs to be reminded who they are in Christ.

          5. Who Are You in Christ? - Ephesians 1:1–2
Welcome to Sylvan Way and thanks for joining us as we worship Jesus!

Who Are You in Christ? | Ephesians 1:1–2 Sermon on Christian Identity

            Who are you, really?

In a world that tells you to build your identity through success, performance, status, and approval, Ephesians points us in a completely different direction. In Ephesians 1:1–2, Paul reminds believers that identity precedes activity. Before he tells us how to live, he reminds us who we are in Christ.
In this message, we look at three powerful words from Paul’s opening: apostle, saints, and faithful in Christ.
This sermon will help you see:
            • You are called, not self-made
            • You are set apart, not common
            • You are faithful in Christ, not sustained by self-effort
            • If you have ever struggled with failure, shame, purpose, or trying to prove yourself, this message is for you. Your identity is not built on what you do for God, but on what God has done for you in Christ.

Big Idea: Who you are in Christ defines how you live, not the other way around.

              Scripture: Ephesians 1:1–2

If this message encouraged you, share it with someone who needs to be reminded who they are in Christ.

            • Does the Jewish Bible Point to Jesus?
Welcome to Sylvan Way and thanks for joining us as we worship Jesus!

Title: Does the Jewish Bible Point to Jesus?

              Description:

This message explores the powerful mission and message behind “Jews for Jesus,” highlighting God’s ongoing love and redemptive plan for the Jewish people. Rooted in Scripture, it reveals how Jesus is the promised Messiah and how the Gospel first came to the Jews—and continues to reach all people today.

Through themes of faith and redemption, this message dives into what it means to trust God in every season—embracing faith in the midst of doubt, faith in the midst of suffering, and ultimately a faith that triumphs. It also unpacks the prophetic picture of Christ as the Servant, focusing on the appearance of the Servant, the agony of the Servant, and the accomplishment of the Servant through His sacrifice.

In the end, we are reminded of the ultimate victory found in Jesus—where death is swallowed up in victory and hope is secured forever.

              Key Themes:

              • God’s covenant and faithfulness to Israel
              • Jesus as the promised Messiah
              • Faith in the midst of doubt
              • Faith in the midst of suffering
              • Faith that triumphs
              • The appearance of the Servant
              • The agony of the Servant
              • The accomplishment of the Servant
              • Death swallowed up in victory
              • The call to share the Gospel with all people

Takeaway: God’s plan has always included both Jew and Gentile—so we are called to live by faith, trust Christ in every circumstance, and share His victory with love, humility, and conviction.

            • Why we celebrate Easter - John 11:1-44
Welcome to Sylvan Way and thanks for joining us as we worship Jesus!

              Title: Why we celebrate Easter

              Easter changes everything.

In John 11, Jesus stands in front of a tomb and calls Lazarus from death to life. That miracle points to the greater truth of Easter: Jesus did not come just to make life better. He came to make dead people alive.

If you’ve ever felt disappointed, stuck, empty, ashamed, or like God did not show up the way you expected, this message is for you. Jesus is not just powerful. He is the resurrection and the life. Because He died and rose again, there is hope, freedom, and new life today.

              Jesus makes dead things alive.

            • I Believe in Unity
Welcome to Sylvan Way and thanks for joining us as we worship Jesus!

              Description:

              I Believe in Unity
Division is everywhere: culture, families, friendships, even the church. But Jesus calls His people to something different. In this message from Ephesians 4:1–6, we look at how God has made us one in Christ and how humility, love, and truth protect that unity. If pride is in the room, unity walks out. Watch and be challenged to fight for the kind of unity Jesus died to give His church.

            • I Believe in Jesus' Return
Welcome to Sylvan Way and thanks for joining us as we worship Jesus!

              Description:

I Believe in Jesus’ Return | Matthew 25:31–46

What you believe about the future shapes how you live today.

In this message, we explore a powerful truth from Matthew 25:31–46:

Jesus is coming back—and His return leads to a real moment with a real Judge.

Jesus’ return means your life is headed toward a real moment with a real Judge.

              In this teaching, we unpack:

              • The King is coming back
              • You don’t skip the courtroom
              • Grace always leaves fingerprints
              • Two destinations, no third option

This passage reminds us that faith is not just something we say—it’s something that shows. The grace we receive from Jesus should leave visible evidence in how we live, love, and serve others.

              Takeaway:

The Jesus who saves is the Jesus who will judge. So live today in light of that day.
