Islamist rebels had overrun Damascus and Aleppo and President Assad fled to Russia. It’s widely unclear what will be the future of Syria and its citizens, particularly the minorities. And while Turkey currently has an upper hand and Iranian and Russian presence has been weakened, it’s unclear what will be.
