System Mastery 265 – Monster Care Squad

Oh boy it’s time for Sweater Weather! You know, our now two year running thing where we review specifically non or low-combat games, helping folks learn that there’s more out there than the traditional “put sword into orc” model (you’d be amazed at what people on the internet are putting into orcs these days), and we’re starting this year with Monster Care Squad, a neat game about rescuing wounded monsters in a world that’s evolved past some of the worst instincts of humankind.

Movie Mastery – The Covenant (2006)

A movie about how rich, old money white men can do whatever they want and if anyone tries to stop them, they’re the bad guy. Also magic or something.

Expounded Universe 267 – Where Was Anduin When the Westfall Fell?

And we’re back! Our new scene is set, it’s split between Westfall and Ogrimmar, in which an author must deal with the dizzying array of world leaders available in the Battle for Azeroth era of a game at least a bunch of us were already starting to forget. You’ll never forget such luminaries as Kiro, Caravan Leader of the Vulpera, right? I sure won’t. Anyway, we barely even get an idea of what’s about to happen here. Something about the elements being angry? You know how these are.

System Mastery 264 – Monsterhearts

Okay, I do have a few more books with Witch in the title, and yes the urge to do Strike Witches was fairly strong, but we’ve been wanting a good excuse to talk Monsterhearts for a while anyway and there’s a witch skin in there so you know, you get what you get. It’s the first edition of one of the biggest PBTA games, in which your high school gets all monster-fied and everyone’s out to mess with everyone else!

Movie Mastery – Blood and Donuts (1995)

I guess the idea that being a vampire might not be great was novel in Canada in the 90’s because this movie really focuses exclusively on that like it was going to blow your mind. It then does absolutely nothing else with its runtime.

Expounded Universe 266 – Rogue Planet Wrap Up

All your questions answered! All our thoughts explained! And of course the next book, announced! I, uhhh, I let Jon pick again. I will always vote for the chaos option given the choice, you know this. What horrors are we due? You’ll soon find out!

Expounded Universe 265 -That Can’t Be Right

The end is upon us! Or at least of this book. Once again a massive amount of stuff needs to be handled in just a few short pages, and this time, well, it kind of isn’t! Do we at least finally figure out specifically what the deal is with Zonama Sekot? No! What fun!

System Mastery 263 – Witch: Fated Souls

It’s witches aplenty this ween, and that means more than just crooked triangle hats, as we see here in a multicultural witch festival including witchy types from all over the world. The game is a little bit White Wolf and a little bit rock and roll, relatively recent, and we’re covering the 1st edition (my understanding is that a second also exists). How powerful are these witches? Let’s find out!

Movie Mastery – Bela Lugosi Meets a Brooklyn Gorilla (1952)

A knock-off Dean Martin and Jerry Lewis drag poor Bela Lugosi on screen to be as unlikeable as possible at him. Eventually, there is a gorilla.

Expounded Universe 264 -Anakin and the Amazing Technicolor Sekot

A new character has entered the arena, though we’ve been hanging out on them for a while now. That’s right, it’s time to meet Sekot proper, unravel some secrets of the past, and set up for the last 20 pages, where apparently, almost all of the stuff will happen.
