  • Everyone Needs Hope

We are continuing our conversation on hope that we started yesterday. We will talk about a H.E.A.R.T check and get into Isaiah 60:1-4. We live in a world where we are surrounded by darkness; violence, racism, injustice...and the list goes on. We could all use some hope.

The music on the podcast is from John Nugent. John is a Chicagoland area musician who has been a real blessing to Tabor Church.

  • Thriving in Advent: Appreciate the Value we Receive

Today we continue in our conversation about waiting. In waiting we appreciate the value of what we receive even more when we wait. All good things come from God and so when we receive something good we know it is from God. Don't rush past the waiting, but allow it to draw you to God in prayer and other spiritual disciplines.

  • Thriving in Advent: See the Value

As we continue in the season of Advent we want to know how we can thrive in this season and in seasons of waiting. The second key is that we need to see the value in it. Do you see the value in times when you have to wait? Do you think waiting is all pointless and we should hurry up and get past it? Today we will talk about those things.

  • What are you waiting for?

What are you waiting for? This can be a question that sounds different depending on what part we emphasize. We can yell it at people that are not making a decision to hurry and make one. Advent is a season of waiting. And we ask the question of each of us, What are you waiting for?

  • Advent of Our King

Today we will talk about the origins of the Advent season. This season was not always connected to Christmas. It was once celebrated after Epiphany. It wasn't until the Middle Ages that they tied the first coming with the second coming. What can we learn in this season of Advent?

  • Last Words From James

Today we are closing out the book of James. James wants the Church, followers of Jesus, to know that it is important to go and seek and save that which is lost. If you remember, Jesus said those words. So how are we to go out and bring the wandering back? That is what we'll talk about today.

  • More Mess in Community

We are coming down to the end of the book of James. We will tackle James 5:16-18. In particular, verse 16 is the key. Some have distorted this verse to mean we have to do private confession and absolution in order to be healed, but I do not believe that is what James was talking about. I think this goes back to the messy community we talked about yesterday. Take a listen and find out.

  • Sharing Our Mess

Today we will take a look at a couple of verses in James 5:13-15. This highlights the power of prayer but even more so highlights the importance of sharing our whole lives, the good and bad, with God and our community of faith. Are you suffering? Are you happy? Are you sick? James gives instruction for us to follow.
