  • I Swear

Today we will not finish off the Book of James, as I mentioned last week. So today we will talk about one verse James 5:12. We all want to be truth tellers and we want to be known as people of integrity. Why do we use phrases like, "I swear on my family members..." Pinky promise...or any other phrase to elevate our truth? Are you only telling the truth when you say that or just verifying on a larger scale? It all gets so confusing, so we'll talk about it today.

  • Patient in Suffering

No one likes to suffer. We usually do whatever we can to avoid suffering. But we also know deep down that suffering will come at some point in time. What do we do with suffering? Do we hurry and rush through it? Do we wallow in it and complain? We have two examples today of patience in suffering: Prophets and Job. We address these today.

  • Don't Grumble...Jesus will Judge

Today we will focus on one verse, James 5:9. This is one of those verses that taken out of context could scare us. So we will look at this in the scope of the whole letter and see what James is talking about because it is easy to grumble about fellow brothers and sisters in the church. They can be very frustrating. God will have His justice.

  • Jesus is Coming...Be Patient

We continue in our look at the book of James. This whole next section is about being patient about Jesus coming back. There are a lot of people really concerned about this and have now jumped into full time looking for the "signs." We can be so heavenly minded that we are no earthly good. Get your head out of the clouds and live everyday present with those around you. Trust that Jesus will return because God promised it.

  • We Are the Wealthy

As we start off chapter 5 of James, we see that he returns to a major theme that we have witnessed throughout the book; rich and poor. So once again we are going to talk about wealth and what it means. Who is wealthy? Anyone who makes more than me, right? It is a good opportunity to think about all the ways God has blessed us.

  • Living In the Moment

Today we will tackle James 4:13-17. Today is here and tomorrow is not promised. Sometimes it is difficult to figure out how to plan for our lives. We want to look into the future and be fairly certain of how things are going to play out. James warns us not to be arrogant about our lives. Instead we entrust them to God.

  • Who is the Judge?

Today we are going to talk about James 4:11-12. James warns the Christian not to judge fellow believers. But we know of other places in the Bible that tell us we need to speak the truth in love. We will talk about what it means to judge rightly. Let's get this straight here...we will never be the judge of salvation, that is God's job. Listen today as we figure out what this all means.

  • Humble Yourself

Today we are taking a look at James 4:7-10. James tells us to humble ourselves and resist the devil because he will flee from us. We are going to talk about The Cause and the Result. We see the result of sin and feel guilt and shame but James is directing us to the cause and see what we can do with the temptation. Temptation is not sin but can lead us to it.
