Tabor Church

We are back this week to look at some misused or misapplied scriptures. Today we will look at Philippians 4:13- I can do all things through him who gives me strength. It is a good verse but we should be careful to use it in context and not just when we are doing some hard work. 

Are you content in all situations? It's hard to do without the strength of God in our lives.

What a way to end the week with an episode on Pruning. John 15:2 says that God, the master gardener, will be doing the work of pruning his people. Even though it seems kind of scary or even painful, do we trust that God knows what is best for our lives?

We are moving right along. John 15:5 we need to abide with Jesus. A third dimension of Abide is Remain. The two words are used interchangeably in different translations of the Bible, so I figured we should look at what it means to remain. To remain is to stick with. Even when the Word doesn't make sense to us or the things about faith leave us with a lot of questions...we need to remain with Jesus.

We are continuing in John 15:1-5. We are looking at the dimensions of the word Abide. Today we focus on dependance. The branches need the vine but the vine doesn't need the branches to live. Jesus is trying to teach us where our dependance needs to be. Here is a hint- its not on yourself.

For the next few days we are going to take a look at John 15:1-5. We will focus on the multiple dimensions of the word Abide. The first aspect is Connected. Jesus says he is the vine and we are the branches, if we abide with him we can bear much fruit and apart from him we can do nothing. Followers of Jesus need to ask themselves if they are staying connected to vine or trying to do things on their own.
