This week we're talking about legends and classics. What makes a person legendary? What makes an album, movie or TV show a classic in your opinion? This all came about after the death of Kobe Bryant. It got us to thinking: Are we as a society losing legends faster than we're creating them? Are the people who gave us classic material being back-filled with new talent that can have the torch passed to them? We went around in circles trying to answer those questions. Check out what we came up with.

This week, we're talking about the future. We decided to have a conversation about how we see ourselves in the future. Naturally, we went on a tangent and did some self reflection on some things about ourselves we don't necessarily like and other things we've worked on changing about ourselves. Also, we dealt with the stigma of being "selfish".

This week, we have a guest who had a few things to say about our last episode "Actually We ARE Our Ancestors". In that episode, we briefly touched on the idea of black men's treatment of black women and/or current position in the black family possibly being the result of generational trauma and (separately) whether or not black men are underappreciated. We did NOT agree on that theory during that episode and one of our listeners and friends wanted to put in his two cents on that theory. Give this a listen and tell us what you think.

This week, we invited our good friend Tunje back and let him choose the direction of the show. He asked us a question that spawned a conversation none of us expected: What do we, as black people, really know about slavery? Sure, we've all seen a TV show, movie or read a book but how much of that is actually true? How much is still negatively conditioning us or affecting the way we interact in relationships? How much of it is essential in our daily lives today? We ended up touching on all of those questions. Overall, we gave our individual perspectives on slavery in popular media and whether we felt black people benefit from the slavery narrative in 2020 and beyond.

This week, we're talking relationships. We were tricked (sorta) by Netflix to watch the Kevin Hart docu-series that covered a few things, including (and most notably) his past infidelity "incident". We talked briefly about the show, but mostly about what we thought causes some people to be seemingly incapable of being faithful. We had a few theories, but one we agreed on as being a chief contributor was "lack of a 'hoe phase'". We talked about what we considered our "hoe phases" and what caused us to enter and exit it. This week was inspired by a recent episode of the DL Hughley radio show. We touched on a few different aspects of our perception of the black existence in 2019/2020 in America on this one. Initially, we were focusing in on what degree of progress we felt we've made so far as Black Americans. As usual, we went off into an organic conversation that touched on black economics and a ton of other things.

This week, we decided to explain a little something: Why we haven't been on any of the social media platforms lately. Since we haven't been on in a while, we couldn't use those platforms to explain it, so we decided to explain it here.

This week, we're talking entertainment. We briefly talked about Jennifer Lopez playing a stripper and being talked about for an Oscar and wondered if a black actress had played the same role, would the same talk exist? The bulk of this episode, though, centered around whether we believed the current state of black entertainment is affecting black economics, and in turn, black people (or not). Because we're basically recording private conversations and uploading them, we went off the rails a few times...sorry, but you should be used to this by now.

This week, we're talking about Christmas spirit. For the last few years we've been noticing that the spirit of the holidays feels like it's missing. Is it because we're getting older? Is it because there are no small kids in the house anymore? We can't figure it out, but we tried...

This week, we're talking about prison. We ended up talking about this subject because during the holidays, there are a few people in our family missing each year. We presumed it's not just our family gatherings that are missing family members year in and year out who are incarcerated, so we decided to speak on the current prison system as we see it. Now, we all know by now who makes up the majority of prisoners in America. And, we all know the 13th Amendment left open the loophole so these prisoners could be legal slaves. But, what we tried to tackle in this episode is: Should we, as black people, be pushing for abolishing prisons altogether? We had more than a few ideas of how that would look.
