This week we’re talking about Kanye West. There’s almost no doubt that by now you’ve heard that Kanye went to the White House (again) and met with Trump (again) and made an ass out himself by being there….(again). This time was different, though. He was allowed the time to go off on a 10 – 15 minute rant about 70 unrelated subjects, none of which he seemed to be clear on the facts behind, all while 45 sat and smiled in approval. The plan was not and is almost never to talk about Kanye, but…here we are.

This week, we’re taking a conversation Mia had with a coworker and discussing it. Basically, (and she’ll explain more in depth in the episode) the coworker stated women (black women specifically) are single by choice. Because “they want to be so independent, they deserve to be single mothers” is what he said. Before we recorded this, we didn’t discuss it. What you hear is the result of us going through the entire scenario for the 1st time and our reactions to it.

Now, we knew if we talked about comedy, we'd be forced to talk about Bill Cosby and his recent conviction for sexual assault, and so we gave our honest opinions on that (they're not popular opinions, but whatever). Next, we talked about Katt Williams and his comments about Tiffany Haddish and Kevin hart during a recent appearance on V-103 that had everyone talking. Mostly, we talked about that in the context of the current state of comedy. There seem to be a lot of animosity in comedy now and we wondered if this current environment would ultimately be to the detriment of comedy. (Only one innocent bystander was hurt in this episode and that was R. Kelly...and it was so necessary. lol)

We tried be as respectful as we could during this discussion, but because we acre more about being honest about our feelings than what anyone thinks of our opinions, it may not seem that way (sorry "Dr." Umar).

Both of our parents are elderly and medical care is essential for them, but they don't seem to take medical advice seriously, or at least not as seriously as we'd like them to sometimes. At the same time, though, we were reading this book by Harriet A. Washington called Medical Apartheid: The Dark History of Medical Experimentation on Black Americans from Colonial Times to the Present is a 2007- and this book cleared up some things and made other things more complex . It is a history of medical experimentation on African Americans. From the era of slavery to the present day, this book presents the first full account of black America's mistreatment as unwitting subjects of medical experimentation (that last sentence came straight from Wikipedia because... I'm tired). Though this isn't a book review, we did talk about many of the points made in the book and how it will affect us and our parents moving forward.
