Taiiku Podcast

Been watching a lot of mechanical keyboard related things, and bought one for my work setup (currently, I'm moving my existing mechanical keyboard, which is just some Razer one I bought, back and forth). So if you also like them, you know, teach me everything.

Anyway. This time, Chris (@gokuffy), Chris (@antoniuspius), and I continue through David Lynch's filmography with Lost Highway. Then Ink (@ink_just_ink), Basil (@itsbasiltime), and I talk about RE-MAIN, the water polo anime.

Listen

Show notes:

1:48:17 - Questions from you, the listeners

Next time is Straight Story and Backflip!!

Trying to get into hockey more, and watching some Kraken hockey as I edited part of this podcast. While I still do not know much about the rules and the advanced stats like I like (I gotta find a Kraken podcast...), I have a feeling this last place 17-36-5 team with 39 points is not that good.

Anyway. This time, Chris (@gokuffy) and Chris (@antoniuspius) join me in a return to the town of Twin Peaks with Twin Peaks: Fire Walk with Me. Then Chris, Ink (@ink_just_ink), and Jared (@JLayneNelson) join me to talk about Chihayafuru 3.

Listen

Show notes:

0:30 - Chris, Chris, and I talk about Twin Peaks: Fire Walk with Me

You can hear our new cat for the first time around the 30 minute mark of the podcast. And also throughout randomly.

2:26:19 - Questions from you, and also me

Next time is Lost Highway and RE-MAIN.

Chelsea won a match while we recorded this, which is good. And the Clippers won after coming back from 30+ down. So I feel like this podcast is a good luck charm? Or these are extreme coincidences. But who knows with sports fandom.

Anyway. This time, we're back talking about movies. But not David Lynch movies; our favorite movies of 2021. Joining me in this venture is Chris (@gokuffy) and Corey (@Modandrocker).

There are some issues with Corey's audio here between connection issues and application issues. But hopefully it's mostly ok ish.

2:08:11 - Worst ofs

Next time is back to David Lynch with Fire Walk with Me and Chihayafuru 3.

It is my opinion that MLB players should, on whole, be paid more and owners should be taxed more.

Anyway. This episode, it is our annual January episode, and we are counting down our top five favorite anime of the past year, in this case 2021. Joining me on this four hour tour is Chris (@gokuffy), Chris (@antoniuspius), Helen (@WanderinDreamr), and Patz (@PatzPrime).

Next time is top movies of 2021. It's back on the Taiiku Podcast after 2020 was over at 2D or Not 2D Podcast.

The Chicago Bears are a bad football team, and Justin Fields is the hope for the future of the offense. Matt Nagy I still think is a good head coach (given that he hasn't really lost the faith of his players, it seems, until like this season even though they've been bad for a while), but very obviously a bad playcaller. I hope to one day see Justin Fields tear up the NFL.

Anyway. This episode, it's the holidays again, and that means its time again for AGC's (and thanks to the Reverse Thieves for the inception of the idea and for running it for so many years) Anime Secret Santa podcast! Chris (@gokuffy) and Pat (@PatzPrime) join me again to see what Santa gave us this year.

And this year, Santas gave us some gems. I talk about Lupin III: The Castle of Cagliostro and Weathering with You, Pat talks about GoShogun: The Time Étranger, and Chris talks about ODDTAXI.

Listen

Show notes:

0:45 - We go through what we're talking about.

1:04:57 - Questions!

1:22:08 - ODDTAXI, spoiler section!

Next time is top anime of 2021!

I've been watching that Hawkeye TV show too. It is, regrettably for Jeremy Renner's Hawkeye continuing to exist at all, pretty good. Hailee Steinfeld is incredible. Vera Fermiga is incredible. The Fraction/Aja run of comics is one of the few that I've actually read (pay David Aja dammit), and they are good. But none of this changes that Hawkeye should have died in Endgame. I also remember in Infinity War, Clint practicing a bow with his daughter, and people at the time thought that was a hint that his daughter could be the Kate Bishop Hawkeye, just maybe with a different name. But I guess that was just him playing bow and arrow with his kid.

Anyway. This time, Corey (@Modandrocker) and Bamboo (@ANN_Bamboo) join me to talk about the 26th movie in the Marvel Cinematic Universe, Chloé Zhao's Eternals!

Listen

Show notes:

0:45 - We just talk about Eternals. That's it.

Next time is Anime Secret Santa for real.

The Chicago Sky are WNBA champions. The Chicago Red Stars are moving on in the NWSL playoffs. Sports is good, sometimes.

Anyway. This episode, Chris (@gokuffy), Chris (@antoniuspius), and I finish up season two of Twin Peaks. Then, Chris, Chris, and I talk about Denis Villaneuve's new Dune: Part One. And finally, Ink (@AnimatedInk), Basil (@itsbasiltime), and I talk about Burning Kabaddi.

Listen

Show notes:

0:30 - Chris, Chris, and I talk about the rest of Twin Peaks season two!

1:05:51 - Chris, Chris, and I talk about Dune: Part One!

1:21:32 - Chris has to depart, but Chris and I continue chatting about Dune.

1:40:23 - Ink, Basil, and I talk about Burning Kabaddi!

2:10:17 - Kabaddi questions!

Next time is Anime Secret Santa!

The Chicago Sky have won the first of a five game series against the Connecticut Sun in a thrilling double OT game (and lost game two since I wrote this). The Chicago White Sox are going to the playoffs for the 12th(?) time in their 120 year history; for consecutive years for the first time ever. The Chicago Bears...sure are trying.

Anyway. This time, Chris (@gokuffy), Chris (@antoniuspius), and I continue talking about Twin Peaks with season two, episodes one through nine, finishing up The Laura Palmer Mysteries. Then, Ink (@AnimatedInk) lives up to his Bad Sports Anime Correspondent title with me to talk about Cestvs: The Roman Fighter.

Listen

Show notes:

0:38 - Chris, Chris, and I talk about Twin Peaks, season two, episodes one through nine!

1:11:10 - Ink and I talk about Cestvs: The Roman Fighter!

1:27:25 - ODDTAXI!

Next time is the rest of season two of Twin Peaks and Burning Kabbadi!

I love that we have Shang-Chi, Katy, Wenwu, Xialing, Nan, and Ben Kingsley in a Marvel movie together with few white people, but I really can't wait for Shang-Chi, Katy, Wong, Gemma Chan, Kumail Nanjiani, and Ms. Marvel to be in a Marvel movie together with also few white people.

Anyway. Doing a special episode this time with Corey (@Modandrocker) and Bamboo (@ANN_Bamboo) talking about Shang-Chi and the Legend of the Ten Rings!

Listen

Show notes:

No show notes this time. Just Shang-Chi.

All Elite Wrestling's All Out pay-per-view was last night as I type this, and I just can't stop thinking about how great and cool wrestling is. Young Bucks v. Lucha Bros was the match of the night. Adam Cole's debut followed immediately by Bryan Danielson's debut is unmatched. I love wrestling.

Anyway. This episode, Chris (@gokuffy), Chris (@antoniuspius), and I take a quick transition away from Twin Peaks to talk about David Lynch's Wild at Heart! Then Chris (the second one listed), Ink (@AnimatedInk), Kenny (@Minoru79), and I talk about the soccer anime Farewell, My Dear Cramer!

Listen

Show notes:

0:30 - Chris, Chris, and I talk about Wild at Heart!

42:30 - Chris, Ink, Kenny, and I talk about Farewell, My Dear Cramer!

1:34:03 - Farewell, My Dear Cramer questions!

Next time, we start season two of Twin Peaks and talk about Cestvs: The Roman Fighter.
