  • On the importance of writing in Taiwanese ft. FunkyMo
In our second part of the interview with FunkyMo, we will dive deep into why he writes music in Taiwanese and about bringing his recent album into the existence.
FunkyMo was exposed to American Hip-Hop, Funk, R&B, and other broader musical styles. At the same time, he exchanged rock music albums with classmates from the rock music club who sat behind him. He thought he would dance forever, but later discovered that making music was easier on the knees.
In FunkyMo's music, the ability to move your body to the rhythm is the most important thing - the listening experience moves from the outside into the body, ultimately touching people's souls. Although he majored in electronic music production and has unique insights into sound design and synthesizers, his soul seems to have never left the early American grassroots energy of Funk/Soul/R&B styles.
After completing a degree at Berklee College of Music in the U.S., he returned to Taiwan with an electronic music album. He began working as a producer and live performance keyboard player/programmer for many artists from different genres.

  • 3/4 Annual Recap
Today's episode is a bit different as it is without a guest. As 2024 is coming to an end, I thought I would take a look back at all the interviews and revisit some of the old artists that walked through the halls of Rti.
Unfortunately I could not fit in all the artists and should have aimed for two episodes, but hopefully people who were keeping up with the show will find the last few weeks still kind of recent. In case not, please do go check out the remaining artists and big shoutout to them:
    Alec Orachi
    Vincent Hsu

  • Meeting at the World Music Festival with Suonno d'Ajere
In today's episode we will continue our interview with the Neapolitan band, Suonno d’Ajere. In an interview conducted at the World Music Festival @ Taiwan, the three members shared they most memorable performances, future touring places and what their inspiration and goal is behind creating music.
A trio that breathes together from the slightest to the fullest whisper. A voice, that of Irene Scarpato, frontwoman of the group, a vocal and scenic body that releases a variety of timbres as bewitching as essential. A guitar, played in many different styles:from the “posteggia”‘s ripped to the Van Wood’s stoppato. A mandolin and a mandoloncello, always on the move, costantly looking for a sensual touch, as virtuosic as it is expressive, An ensemble made of three instruments dialoguing and humoring each other, running in countertempo through a sought-after repertoire of genres: from serenata to “tear-jerking” song, from macchietta to unpublished composition.
