Have you ever gotten to the end of a day and wondered where it went? You were busy from the moment you woke up. You answered the messages, handled the responsibilities, checked the boxes, and somehow made it through. But were you really there for any of it?

In our last conversation, Coach mentioned something that stayed with us: sometimes we're sleepwalking through life. We're awake, we're moving, we're functioning, but somewhere along the way, we've stopped paying attention.

So today on Take a Minute with Doc & Coach, we're asking a question that might make us all a little uncomfortable: Are we truly living, or are we just going through the motions?

And perhaps even more importantly, what might God be trying to show us that we're simply too distracted to see?

Whose Voice Is This?

How do you know when it's really God speaking—and not your own desires, fears, or the voices of people around you? In this episode of Take a Minute with Doc & Coach, we explore Jesus' words in John 3:8: “The wind blows wherever it pleases…” Like the wind, we may not always see where the Holy Spirit is coming from or where He is leading, but we can learn to recognize His movement. Through prayer, Scripture, the fruit produced in our lives, and a growing relationship with God, we begin to discern His voice even when the path ahead isn't easy or clear. Sometimes God doesn't illuminate the whole road—He simply gives us enough light for the next step. The question is: will we trust Him enough to take it?

Do You Perceive It?

What if God is already doing something new in your life—but you've been too busy trying to figure everything out to notice it? In this episode of Take a Minute with Doc & Coach, we explore Isaiah 43:19 and God's invitation to slow down, look up, and pay attention: “See, I am doing a new thing… do you not perceive it?” Together, we talk about the difference between being prepared and trying to control the outcome, the importance of creating space to simply be still, and how easily we can miss God's direction when we're determined to cut our own path through the wilderness. Maybe the way forward isn't something we have to create at all. Maybe God has already made the way—and He's simply inviting us to open our eyes, trust Him, and perceive it.

Faithfulness – Part 2: Faith That Moves

What does it look like to trust that God is working while still taking the steps He has placed in front of us? In Part 2 of our conversation on Faithfulness, Doc & Coach explore the difference between simply saying “God’s got me” and living with a faith that actually moves. Through James 2:17 and a powerful real-life story of remaining calm, prayerful, and engaged in the middle of uncertainty, we discover that faith is not passive. We may not have all the answers, and we may not be able to see what God is doing behind the scenes, but we can keep praying, keep seeking, keep showing up, and take the next faithful step. We trust God with the outcome—but faithfulness calls us to participate in the process.

Sometimes the hardest part of faith is trusting God when we cannot see what He is doing. In this episode of Take a Minute with Doc & Coach, we continue our conversation about faithfulness—but this time, we turn our attention toward God’s faithfulness to us. Through Jesus’ words in John 16:33 and the powerful story of Joseph, we explore how trouble, uncertainty, waiting, and even circumstances meant to harm us do not mean God has stopped working. In fact, His faithfulness is never dependent upon our ability to see what He is doing. Join us as we talk about finding peace in the middle of uncertainty, trusting God through the process, and recognizing that sometimes the greatest testimony is being able to say, “I couldn’t see what God was doing, but I trusted that He was there.”

We Do Not Know How – Part 5: When You Finally See Fruit

What happens when the seeds you've been faithfully tending finally begin to show fruit? In this final episode of We Do Not Know How, Doc & Coach explore how spiritual growth often becomes visible in the moments when we realize—we don't react the way we used to, we don't need to have all the answers, and we can trust God even in the middle of uncertainty. Through Galatians 5 and the Fruit of the Spirit, we talk about recognizing the evidence of God's work in our lives while remaining humble enough to remember where that growth comes from. The fruit may appear in our lives, but the glory belongs to God. Keep planting, keep trusting, and keep growing—even when you do not know how.

About This Podcast — We Do Not Know How, Part 4: You Can’t Grow Someone Else

In Part 4 of We Do Not Know How, Doc & Coach explore a difficult lesson in spiritual growth: you can’t grow someone else. Through Jesus’ teaching of the vine and branches in John 15:1–5, we discover that God is the gardener, Jesus is the vine, and our responsibility is to remain connected—not to control another person’s journey. Whether in our families, relationships, workplaces, or communities, we can encourage, love, support, and plant seeds, but we cannot force someone else to grow on our timetable or according to our expectations. Sometimes faith means taking our hands off, trusting God with their growth, and allowing Him to continue pruning and growing us in the process. Stay connected to the Vine, tend to your own branch, and let God be the gardener.

About This Podcast — We Do Not Know How, Part 3: Stop Digging Up the Seeds

In Part 3 of We Do Not Know How, Doc & Coach explore what happens when our desire for immediate results collides with God’s timing. Through Galatians 6:9 and James 5:7, we’re reminded that spiritual growth requires patience, perseverance, and trust in what God is doing beneath the surface. Like a farmer waiting for a precious harvest, our responsibility is to remain faithful without constantly digging up the seed to see if it is growing. Sometimes the work God is doing cannot yet be seen—and that doesn’t mean nothing is happening. Keep watering, keep trusting, and stop digging up the seeds.

About This Podcast — We Do Not Know How, Part 2: Faithfulness Is Our Assignment

In Part 2 of We Do Not Know How, Doc & Coach continue exploring the mystery of spiritual growth through 1 Corinthians 3:6–7—“I planted the seed, Apollos watered it, but God has been making it grow.” Through personal stories of faith, growth, and unexpected turns, we discover that our assignment isn’t to control the outcome; it is to faithfully plant, water, practice, and keep showing up. God knows when we are ready for the next step, even when we cannot see what He is doing behind the scenes. Faithfulness is our assignment; growth belongs to God.

That final line feels like the perfect companion to Part 1, G: “We may not know how, but we can trust the One who does.” → “Faithfulness is our assignment; growth belongs to God.”
