🦇 💩 This podcast is dedicated to fellow coach and author, Taz Thornton, who (all unknowingly … perhaps?!) has enabled this change, this threshold moment, in me. Ta very muchley, Taz – said in a growl – I really needed this, even if I don’t want it! So I love you dearly even if I want to bite your nuts off! Change is a crazy, gorgeous, terrifying, wonderful thing, and so often we each need to be pushed off the cliff because we just ain’t never gonna jump of our own accord. Taz is a wonderful person who can do just that, and from a super-loving heart! 🦇 💩

Anger is something we all have,we all get angry. Often we're told it's bad - I disagree with that.

Anger has its own purpose ... what we need to do is discover what that purpose is. Doing that can be hard and difficult work. I had it beautifully demonstrated to me last week by a client. Her journey into getting close to her anger and beginning to learn what it was there for - and how it had helped her through her life to date - inspired this podcast. Walking with her on this journey, then helping her to go off on her own, and then the privilege of her sharing with me what happened on her first venture to uncover its purpose, showed me new things as well as old.

Clients are such a joy to work with ... I hope you enjoy this journey too.

I'm really lucky this week as coaching colleague Fay Blakey is guesting on Pea Green Boat.

As well as being Mum gorgeous Sam and wife to Jon, Fay is chief-cook-and-bottle-washer (i.e. staff!) to Maya and Barney, gorgeous cats who love to pounce on the keyboard and chase the cursor; and she's guardian to Bugsey the Bunny. Busy woman!

I really enjoy being with Fay. She sees the funny side of life and her glass is always half full, add in she's practical, down to earth and caring. Like me, she loves to dance round the kitchen when cooking the tea, and sings along with herself too, and like me she makes up her own words as she goes along!

A while back, before I went under with covid, a friend asked me: When most of the people in the world are getting in the rat-race and doing something they don't want to do, how did you choose to do something different and also to add value to the lives of others?

Wow! That's a big one!

So … just where does my shit come from, where does the way I work come from? And why is it so different from many Business Models?

In October, I’m doing my first retreat again since the pandemic stopped all that – it’s on Rewilding Your Heart.

So … what is rewilding your heart all about? It’s about finding your wild heart – often buried deep inside you – reconnecting with it and making that a daily practice.

You’ll find it reconnects you with Nature too. No longer will you have the weird sort of feeling that you and the natural world may be on opposite sides, or even (as some do) that Nature can be your enemy at least some of the time. You’ll discover that connecting with the natural world, through your wild heart, really improves and expands all your relationships, personal and professional, and makes your whole life more comfortable and enjoyable.

This week began with a trip down Memory Lane, back when I was a software boffin in the days when the acronym WYSIWYG got invented in re-Arc days, 1974. It means What You See Is What You Get, and is the interface that makes our modern desktop publishing so user-friendly.

I was already half into psychology back then too. My Dance degree had included the Rudolf Laban techniques of understanding, using and working with the Shadow side of body-movement. Understanding the shadow side of what people say with their bodies and noticing how what their bodies say agrees, or disagrees, with their mouths say.

So … what you see is what you get works super-well in ordinary personal relationships too.

This week I'm talking about our inner compasses and how to use them. How to find and listen to your own compass – rather than somebody else’s – is something just about all my clients need me to help them with. It’s a complicated thing and first of all involves realising that this is what you need! One of clients recently gave me an ace example this and has agreed to let me use it here ... no names, no pack drill of course!

One of my tutors said to me, "Be full of expectancy but without expectations". I've never forgotten and it makes a huge difference to how successfully we live our lives if we try to stick to that maxim. It's not easy ... takes practice ... but there are so many reasons why it's a good idea.
