His businesses include The Arcade (downtown bar and arcade), 1868 (bar), Let’s Go Build (a lego store), Sweet N Saucy - a candy, soda, sauce and gift shop, Just a Sip (soda shop), and Papa’s Ice Cream & Treats. If you want a clear look at the way Michael Bates grew up, just turn on the famous documentary “Meth Storm” on Netflix. This is the town he grew up in, and the people he knew as his community. I met Bates as my husband’s Sgt. in the Marine Corps. Immediately he was intimidating to me, but as we grew to know each other, I quickly realized how much more to his story I had to learn. 

In this episode, you’ll hear how Bates (that’s what we call him) went from living in an abandoned school bus, to owning a plane that he flies his family and friends around in. Meet Kelsey, owner of Bungee Fit (a bungee fitness studio) in Wichita, KS. Born and raised in Andover, college volleyball player at WSU, and now business owner - she has a true love for this city. Most would describe Kelsey as a fun, outgoing, energetic, and bubbly person. Her presence is known and felt in every room she walks into!

Kelsey has changed the lives of hundreds through her fitness program at Bungee Fit by providing a space for not only fun fitness, but a strong and tight knit community. A single mother raising two daughters has faced some of life’s toughest challenges. Over the past two years, Naomi has been diagnosed with two different types of cancer, and has fought like hell to survive.
