Hundreds of thousands of actors flock to Hollywood each year with one thing in mind….They come armed with Headshots and Hope, they share apartments with people they don’t like, do jobs they cant stand, all with the aim of one day ACTING…This goes on for years. We often see that people are overnight successes, but it’s not the case. Mark Ruffalo famously auditioned more than 600 times, George Clooney was in Hollywood for 10 years before getting a break on ER.

I’m talking today with Brian Reise….he’s run one of LA’s most popular acting schools for over 30 years…..So, Brian, what’s the secret….?

In this episode I take part in one of the most emotional interviews I've ever done as I chat with the remarkable Samuel Chu....social change advocate.

From his Facebook page:
'Samuel Chu is a nationally recognized organizer for social change and a more vibrant democratic culture in America and beyond.'

But he is so much more than that...a true inspiration.

Be inspired like I was...and enjoy this interview. Quite remarkable.

Hi...Ella with the Show Notes for Episode 7.

Michael Apted is one of the prolific Directors of his generation…his resume includes acclaimed titles such as Coal Miners Daughter, Gorillas in the Mist, The World Is Not Enough and the famed 7UP series.

Through documentary, feature film, TV, his career has spanned over 50 years and doesn’t look like stopping.

But he does admit that as he’s aging, the industry is changing, and the desire for the latest and next big thing is changing the way stories are told and the ones he’s attached to telling...

Hi, Ella with the Show Notes for Episode 4 of Take Fountain...my special guest...Louie Schwatrzberg!

Louie Schwartzberg is an award-winning producer, director and cinematographer whose notable career spans more than three decades providing breathtaking imagery for feature films, television shows, documentaries and commercials.

You will have seen his work in American Beauty, the Bourne Ultimatum, Crash, ET, he’s worked with Francis Ford Coppola, Ridley Scott. Stephen Spielberg.

He’s a visual artist, without peer, a pioneer in his field, creating breathtaking images… Multi award winning, his work transcends the world of film, exploring science, and human emotion…

Louie was introduced to me by a friend here who thought he would make a great interview subject, I saw his TED TALK, http://www.ted.com/talks/louie_schwartzberg_nature_beauty_gratitude?language=en , seen by over 3 million, and sat down over days to watch whatever I could find…and it was a lot, and it was simply stunning. I suggest you look at movingart.com to see for yourself.

I wasn’t sure how I would even begin to talk to this man about such a visual career, but I needn’t have been concerned. Louie is softly spoken man with an amazing story of calm resilience, of pushing through, pushing boundaries and mostly just finding his uniqueness and making it available to the world.

Hi, Ella with the Show Notes for Episode 3.

In this episode I get to chat with Leanne Linsky....comedian, actress and fast rising star.

The critics have this to say to say about Leanne:

“…Linsky has the comedic chops to join the ranks of Fey and Rudner." ~ DC Metro Theatre Arts

"Ms. Linsky’s surge upward appears to be a foregone conclusion.” ~ Sneakers & Ale.com

“…the next wave of comedic genius right in our backyards.” ~ Examiner.com

From her resume, Leanne lists the following skill set:
'Stand up comedy, improv, hosting, handgun familiarity, swimming, weight training, yoga, bike riding, jogging, golf, bowling, hiking, kickboxing, aerobics, and licensed driver (manual/automatic).'

I had the privilege of chatting with this talented individual and finding out about her path to LA and what makes her tick, her motivations and drive.

We’re used to hearing the word PRODUCER…but although in high numbers in the Hollywood ecosystem, getting to see and hear them up close is rare.

They are behind the scenes people, struggling to get things ‘UP’…to make a dream become a reality….Adding the writers, directors, finance, actors…to bring it all to fruition.

Paige Simpson is one such rare type! You will probably have seen LEAVING LAS VEGAS, the film that scored Nicholas Cage his Oscar win in 1995…now meet producer Paige Simpson, that brought it to the screen.

Hi everyone, welcome to Episode 1 of Take Fountain...a podcast of passionate people working on their dreams. Compelling stories from Hollywood. My name is Ella James and here are the Show Notes...

My very first guest is Jose Arroyo....

I had been cast in a sketch for CONAN, and then the idea came to me to introduce writer José Arroyo who’s worked for him across 2 decades. He’s also a talented cartoonist, check out SEETHING WITH JOY! https://www.comixology.com/Seething-With-Joy/comics-series/57101

Walking onto the Warner Bros lot in Burbank and heading to the Conan offices, past the sets where they shoot ‘Ellen’ ‘Pretty Little Liars’ ‘The Big Bang Theory’ amongst many many others, I was escorted upstairs to interview this mild mannered curly haired bespectacled funny man. Warm, talented, and with a compelling story, José took me backstage in his life, to how it all started…being the ‘different one’ in a family of ‘normal’ siblings with ‘real jobs’…AND he played the ukulele for me!
