'Now it happened as He went to Jerusalem that He passed through the midst of Samaria and Galilee. Then as He entered a certain village, there met Him ten men who were lepers, who stood afar off. And they lifted up their voices and said, “Jesus, Master, have mercy on us!” So when He saw them, He said to them, “Go, show yourselves to the priests.” And so it was that as they went, they were cleansed. And one of them, when he saw that he was healed, returned, and with a loud voice glorified God, and fell down on his face at His feet, giving Him thanks. And he was a Samaritan. So Jesus answered and said, “Were there not ten cleansed? But where are the nine? Were there not any found who returned to give glory to God except this foreigner?” And He said to him, “Arise, go your way. Your faith has made you well.”'
The world has a desire to be happy; our culture is searching for happiness, an escape from the trials and difficulties of life
There is an importance of “finding ourselves” in the Bible and asking how it applies to us.
How are we like these lepers? 1) We carry a deadly disease - our sin 2) There is no earthly cure for this disease we carry, it carries a death sentence. The only hope is Jesus and Him alone, vs. 13
He understood: where his miracle came from, that he didn’t heal himself, he was grateful
Gratitude can improve: our mental and physical well-being and our relationships
Ingratitude is the mother of sickness and depression: Romans 1:21: 2 Timothy 3:1
9 out of the 10 lepers didn’t turn back, they chose the easy path.
The one that returned and bowed at Jesus’ feet chose the harder path, the path of humility.
