September 27, 2021Mystery of the Secret Band by Edith Lavell 2 The Job Young Adult Teen Mystery Book FreeMystery of the Secret Band by Edith Lavell 2 The Job Young Adult Teen Mystery Book.chapter 2 of mystery of the secret band this is a librivox recording all librivox recordings are in the public domain for more information or to volunteer please visit librivox.org mystery of the secret band by edith lavelle the job if mrs gay did not like the idea of losing her daughter for two weeks at least she kept the feeling to herself she congratulated mary louise heartily i'm being chosen for a difficult piece of work you're a lucky girl cried freckles mary louise's young brother wish i was old enough to take the job you couldn't take this one son his father reminded him because it's a woman's job a man would be out of place in a woman's hotel but mary lou can go about unnoticed people will think she's just a guest 25 bucks a week repeated freckles what are you going to do with all that money sis i don't know wait and see if i earn it but if i do we'll all have something nice out of it i wasn't asking for it protested the boy no i know you weren't but wait and we'll see she turned to her mother the detwilers haven't heard a thing from margaret mother not since they received a box last christmas from philadelphia but i promised to try to hunt her up for them oh i feel sorry for them exclaimed mrs gay i do hope that nothing has happened to margaret so do i but anyhow that will give me two jobs in philadelphia yes agreed her father and you can give that as your reason for being in philadelphia to the other guests at the hotel if you care to that's an idea said mary louise and maybe this is the more important of the two i'm sure margaret detwiler is more precious to her grandparents than money and valuables to the women at that hotel though her mother accepted the situation calmly owing to her father's persuasion no doubt mary louise found her best friends less agreeable jane raised a howl of protest when she heard of the plan and max miller looked so crushed and unhappy that for a moment or two mary louise even considered the idea of giving the whole thing up i asked you two months ago to go to the senior dance during christmas week he said and you promised me faithfully mary lou i know max but i couldn't foresee anything like this coming up it spoils my whole vacation it spoils my whole senior year because this is the biggest affair we have in fact it spoils my whole life now max be reasonable we'd have only a few dances together your class president don't forget and you'll need to perform your social duties and any other girl will do as your partner no other girl will do it all he protested stubbornly i won't take anybody else i'll go stag i'd stay home entirely if i weren't president well maybe i'll have the whole mystery solved in the week before christmas and get home in time for the dance remarked mary louise optimistically more likely you'll stay awake over time muttered the young man or maybe take on the job for good and never come back to riverside at all mary louise laughed you certainly can dish out gloom when you want to max you don't suppose my parents would allow me to leave high school and take a regular job when i'm only 16 do you i shan't be 17 till next spring you know but max refused to be consoled and jane patterson upheld him in his attitude it was ridiculous foolhardy dumb silly every adjective she could think of to go to a strange city and be all alone during christmas week when you could be having a perfectly wonderful time in riverside you'll get to be a dried up old maid by the time you're 25 she told her chum and what good will your career be to you then lots of good returned mary louise complacently if i'm going to be an old maid i'll certainly want a career but i don't see why a career should interfere with marriage i'll have plenty of time to have it first all the men will be married by that time i'll take a chance laughed mary louise nothing anybody said could stop her mary louise was more thrilled......more14minPlay

September 27, 2021Squinty the Comical Pig by Richard Barnum 1 The Dog Free Comedy Young Adult Teens AudiobookSquinty the Comical Pig by Richard Barnum 1 The Dog Free Comedy Young Adult Audiobook.chapter 1 of squinty the comical pig this is a librivox recording all librivox recordings are in the public domain for more information or to volunteer please visit librivox.org recording by jadopi squinty the comical pig by richard barnum chapter one squinty and the dog squinty was a little pig you could tell he was a pig just as soon as you looked at him because he had the cutest little curly tail as though it wanted to tie itself into a bow but was not quite sure whether that was the right thing to do and squinty had a skin that was as pink under his white hairy bristles as a baby's toes also squinty had the oddest nose it was just like a rubber ball flattened out and when squinty moved his nose up and down or sideways as he did when he smelled the nice sour milk the farmer was bringing for the pig's dinner why when squinty did that with his nose it just made you want to laugh right out loud but the funniest part of squinty was his eyes or rather one eye and that eye squinted just as well as any eye ever squinted somehow or other i don't just know why exactly or i would tell you the lid of one of squinty's eyes was heavier than the other that eye opened only halfway and when squinty looked up at you from the pen where he lived with his mother and father and little brothers and sisters why there was such a comical look on squinty's face that you wanted to laugh right out loud again in fact lots of boys and girls when they came to look at squinty in his pen could not help laughing when he peered up at them with one eye widely open and the other half shut oh what a comical pig the boys and girls would cry what is his name oh well i guess we'll call him squinty the farmer said and so squinty was named perhaps if his mother had had her way about it she would have given squinty another name as she did his brothers and sisters in fact she did name all of them except squinty one of the little pigs was named woof woof another curly tail another squealer another wee-wee and another puffball there were seven pigs in all and squinty was the last one so you see he came from quite a large family when his mother had named six of her little pigs she came to squinty let me see grunted mrs pig in her own way for you know animals have a language of their own which no one else can understand let me see said mrs pig why shall i call you she was thinking of naming him floppy because the lid of one of his eyes sort of flopped down but just then a lot of boys and girls came running out to the pigpen the boys and girls had come on a visit to the farmer who owned the pigs and when they looked in and saw big mr and mrs pig and the little ones one boy called out oh what a queer little pig with one eye partly open and how funny he looks at you what is his name well i guess we'll call him squinty the farmer had said and so just as i have told you squinty got his name squinty exclaimed mrs pig as she heard what the farmer said i don't know as i like that oh it will do very well answered mr pig it will save you thinking up a name for him and after all you know he does squint not that it amounts to anything in fact it is rather stylish i think let him be called squinty all right answered mrs pig so squinty it was hello squinty called the boys and girls giving the little pig his new name hello squintygrunted squinty that meant in his language hello you see for those squinty and his mother and father and brothers and sisters could understand man talk and boy and girl talk they could not speak that language themselves but had to talk in their own way nearly all animals understand our talk even though they cannot speak to us just look at a dog for instance when you called to him come here doesn't he come of course he does and when you say lie down sir doesn't he lie down that is if he's a good dog and minds he understands anyhow and see how horses......more15minPlay
September 27, 2021Squinty the Comical Pig by Richard Barnum 1 The Dog Free Comedy Young Adult Teens AudiobookSquinty the Comical Pig by Richard Barnum 1 The Dog Free Comedy Young Adult Audiobook.chapter 1 of squinty the comical pig this is a librivox recording all librivox recordings are in the public domain for more information or to volunteer please visit librivox.org recording by jadopi squinty the comical pig by richard barnum chapter one squinty and the dog squinty was a little pig you could tell he was a pig just as soon as you looked at him because he had the cutest little curly tail as though it wanted to tie itself into a bow but was not quite sure whether that was the right thing to do and squinty had a skin that was as pink under his white hairy bristles as a baby's toes also squinty had the oddest nose it was just like a rubber ball flattened out and when squinty moved his nose up and down or sideways as he did when he smelled the nice sour milk the farmer was bringing for the pig's dinner why when squinty did that with his nose it just made you want to laugh right out loud but the funniest part of squinty was his eyes or rather one eye and that eye squinted just as well as any eye ever squinted somehow or other i don't just know why exactly or i would tell you the lid of one of squinty's eyes was heavier than the other that eye opened only halfway and when squinty looked up at you from the pen where he lived with his mother and father and little brothers and sisters why there was such a comical look on squinty's face that you wanted to laugh right out loud again in fact lots of boys and girls when they came to look at squinty in his pen could not help laughing when he peered up at them with one eye widely open and the other half shut oh what a comical pig the boys and girls would cry what is his name oh well i guess we'll call him squinty the farmer said and so squinty was named perhaps if his mother had had her way about it she would have given squinty another name as she did his brothers and sisters in fact she did name all of them except squinty one of the little pigs was named woof woof another curly tail another squealer another wee-wee and another puffball there were seven pigs in all and squinty was the last one so you see he came from quite a large family when his mother had named six of her little pigs she came to squinty let me see grunted mrs pig in her own way for you know animals have a language of their own which no one else can understand let me see said mrs pig why shall i call you she was thinking of naming him floppy because the lid of one of his eyes sort of flopped down but just then a lot of boys and girls came running out to the pigpen the boys and girls had come on a visit to the farmer who owned the pigs and when they looked in and saw big mr and mrs pig and the little ones one boy called out oh what a queer little pig with one eye partly open and how funny he looks at you what is his name well i guess we'll call him squinty the farmer had said and so just as i have told you squinty got his name squinty exclaimed mrs pig as she heard what the farmer said i don't know as i like that oh it will do very well answered mr pig it will save you thinking up a name for him and after all you know he does squint not that it amounts to anything in fact it is rather stylish i think let him be called squinty all right answered mrs pig so squinty it was hello squinty called the boys and girls giving the little pig his new name hello squintygrunted squinty that meant in his language hello you see for those squinty and his mother and father and brothers and sisters could understand man talk and boy and girl talk they could not speak that language themselves but had to talk in their own way nearly all animals understand our talk even though they cannot speak to us just look at a dog for instance when you called to him come here doesn't he come of course he does and when you say lie down sir doesn't he lie down that is if he's a good dog and minds he understands anyhow and see how horses......more15minPlay
September 27, 2021The Countess Diaries Novel Writing, Wandering Hands, Hospital Visit and Being ProlificThe Countess Diaries Novel Writing, Wandering Hands, Hospital Visit and Being Prolific.good morning good wonderful people of the internet welcome to royal clarence marina i'm resting today in the boudoir in the before poster i'm i'm enclosed in velvet swags and jeeves is bringing me coffee and refreshments because i am in recovery from an ordeal yesterday every year because i am a survivor of the big sea darlings every year i have to go to hospital and have these i have to be prodded and poked and it's really rather horrendous so i was prodded and poked yesterday and made a big fuss of course i screamed for jesus and jesus did not come and i will point out at this point that jesus even jesus doesn't come for a countess when she's in distress when she's in the deepest deepest hollows of fear and dread jesus did not come darlings anyway i got through it and it was all right and i'm here today to tell the tale which is rather wonderful isn't it and of course we thank the the wonderful uh nurses and doctors who really were very very gentle with me they see your panic um i mean i have to do all sorts of things tapping on the head chanting breathing counting numbers but there's always a yelp there's always a yelp like a dying dog that's been run over by rolls-royce yes indeed anyway it's fine now i've recovered sort of but i do need a day in the in the full poster to completely regain my faculties and be able to launch myself on the world again it's a terrible worry and my heart you know my heart bleeds for all the wonderful people in the world i'm sure some of you listening are going through cancer scares and cancer recovery and perhaps more you know more serious things and my heart is really yours on these occasions now in other news my agent has told me that i need to be more prolific on the internet i've been hiding behind um other people for far too long and because of the book i'm publishing a book and well i'm doing a serialized book on the blog and because of that i need to be more prolific there needs to be apparently a bit more personality oh said i personality oh i thought there was enough personality in the books no apparently i need to be accessible and so that people can grasp who the writer is oh said i very unpleasant so that's what i'm going to do from now on so i'm going to be doing more diaries um and the serialized books i'm i'm doing about four at the moment so we have the countess diaries i have a murder mystery um and what else do i have oh a fanny blom who is a a scottish alien who has um woken up in scotland in in the highlands and that's really a labor of love i'm not sure if anybody will well it's a bit cult i suppose a bit sci-fi cult so i'm not sure um it's the thing is it's really it's a film and those those recordings are from a film so i don't really know if they'll be if they'll work in a podcast however i have to put them out and because it's autobiographical and you know it's all about the personality and my agent says get that personality across get it out there get it let the people see you i thought it makes me feel rather undressed but so be it so be it um now in other news i went i was with the the um the lord of camp shots yesterday he was my drive to the hospital and i can't be um ignored it he has very slight wandering hand and the wandering hand it's so interesting isn't it because the wandering hand it can be so subtle but us ladies we lit we know about the wandering hand and it it was just a wandering flicker of hand down the back down the spine with tapping fingers in a sort of pianissimo sort of way and but very noticeable i can't believe how um what what can i say how almost invisible it was and yet so loud interesting anyway the lord came shot was telling me that he's directly related to the countess of oxford and i thought oh i must tell my listeners because i know you're interested about my heritage although i'm no blood relative i'm only um you can't really be......more8minPlay
