September 16, 2021Allegro Suzuki Piano School book 1 lesson with Sarnia Free Music Classes for BeginnersAllegro Suzuki Piano School book 1 lesson with Sarnia Free Music Classes for Beginners.hello tale tellers welcome to suzuki book one piano we're going to look at the allegro today but we can actually look at any piece um for this particular class because i'm not going to talk you through the notes or anything hopefully um you can work things out yourself but i'm going to talk about the importance of giving each bit each moment a personality of its own so when you first start a piece of music there are several things you should consider first of all the overall feeling what sort of uh mood has it got what sort of tune is it the um composer's done most of the work for us already they've written allegro which means it's quite it's bit nippy it's quite quick we've got loads and loads of dots on the first line we've got a repeat so we know this first phrase sort of natural phrase is going to be repeated um like an introductory sentence we can look down and we see the dr legato so we're going to play this sweetly and it's tricky to play sweetly quick or quickly sweetly or quickly sweet um but it's all about contrast with music it's always all about contrasts um and then the second line we're coming down we've got a written tender there so we're going to slow down become quieter and there's a sign there that we're going to be quiet and then we're going to um for this rather fabulous uh chord there we're going to we've got a pause on it and then we're back to the generaluh mood um which is flighty i i think it's flighty feels flighty to me our tempo is back to the original tempo look at this piece there's a lot of heavy blackness in the left hand and it that looks how it sounds doesn't it heavy it you've got all these notes piled on you can look at that and you know immediately but just by looking how it's going to sound because it's rather like wearing uh doc martens i think sort of heavy boots all the way and then there's some white uh whiter chords with um uh what have we got um semi braves and we've got that pause the mood would change it would sit umthe note would last you can hear it and now it's getting quieter and there's this lovely pause you can see that just by looking at us all going to happen and then it returns in the third section to the initial mood that we had for the first two line uh the first line sorry well twice you play it twice so the other thing we're going to notice before we've even touched a note is that the first line and the third line look identicaland we're going to be playing it three times which i'll repeat on the the first line now whether or not um you play the repeat is is entirely up to you but i recommend you do play them i think it's an opportunity to learn things better and i think it's an opportunity to um add a bit of flavor and contrast the more notes you've got the more you can be expressive um it's just quite fun isn't it plus you'll get really good at it you might have to practice the legato line a little bit more to make up for that the other thing is when you come to the end of a piece you need to breathe allow the music to breathe as if it's the end okay now we quite often we have an instruction at the end of the score to go back to the beginning and play to a set point but this ends where it ends um so as you're coming to that sort of last sectioni would uh definitely get a bit slower and a bit quieter but marginally not too much but you don't want to end on too much of a um let's get going type of uh feeling okay now i'm a digital musician as well as uh an acoustic player and i notice when what i do when i use my computer my digital software i i can put notes in and then i can change the length and the velocity that's the speed at which the hammer comes down on the piano for example i can make a staccato note a bit longer or a lot longer and turn it into a legato note i can affect the volume of each note and actually it i mean......more19minPlay

September 16, 2021Being Happy at 60, New Horizons, Goodwood Revival and Dressing up at Royal ClarenceA chat over morning coffee from the four-poster in the penthouse.hello beautiful people of the internet welcome to royal clearance radio i had a very very busy week um really just working out internet issues so i felt quite uh overworked i suppose and i'm really looking forward now to goodwood very very excited about goodwood so i'm going to goodwood revival with my daughter and my grandson now i'm not sure what outfits they're wearing if you don't know anything about goodwood revival it is a um a celebration of the automobile but the automobile through history so everybody dresses up and there's a lot of there's a lot of sort of army dressing up for some reason well they do have a large area called the barracks which is a the tickets i think were a few hundred pounds now the reason i didn't get those for my daughter and i was because um it was very boozy i looked at pictures online and i just saw drunk pretend soldiers i just thought oh i've had enough drunk servicemen in my life i don't want to add to you know life's rich tapestry with more of them that aren't actually real all that role play um but also you know we're we'll have a child in tow so that didn't seem quite appropriate so i didn't go for that um and i don't i don't i'm not sure if you know my years of bawdiness are behind me not in front of me um but i've no idea you know what to expect because i haven't been before now we're dressing up and i bought a wonderful ferrari red um overalls and ferrari cap for a child so i'm assuming my grandson's wearing that i don't know for sure because there's a possibility that he may be going as a sort of punk uh fifth uh oh i don't know i'm not sure i mean i i really don't know because my daughter hasn't sorted it out yet she's leaving it till friday i've been doing mine for weeks although i haven't got the details down now yesterday i'd made a hat which turned out you know the thing with a 40s hat is they wore a lot of half hats and so if you just cut the heart the hat in half and stick a feather on it you're pretty much wearing a 40s hat i don't know if that's because they were short on materials because of the walls so they just cut cut hats in halves and one person had the one and the other person had the other seems like a solution to me um anyway i made this number in yellow and it it sort of looks a bit piratey and i have a big head of hair and it wasn't quite working and then i tried wigs it wasn't quite working anyway i'm doing something which i'm not going to reveal but it involves plaits so there we go that's as much as i'm going to give away but i haven't sorted out yet so today i'm going to have a dress rehearsal darlings a dress rehearsal of my costume and i shall no doubt pop them up online somewhere to pick myself up i was thinking about you know i have a lot of augmentations um i think it's my right to be able to look in the mirror without horror every day and but nobody sees them because they don't go anywhere so um i think i may really look forward to this weekend and just you know getting out um the awards in uh new york the other day um debbie harry was just always been a total inspiration to me actually from you know when i was 16 she's a few years older she's got a decade or more on me but you know i've always always really looked up to her um and it's it's funny when you get older the role models become fewer and i'm sort of in a sort of deep blue sea at the moment because when you get to about 80 there are lots of um well not lots but you can it's easier to be flamboyant i think and sort of get attention because people are just thinking you know she's still alive i wonder what same as you know i'm an artist and i've i've got a pretty good feeling when i'm 80 i'll have a career and i haven't really got one now and this is the thing the the 50s and 60s seem to be this sort of chasm of um watery unknowns and nobody cares about you nobody cares that you're alive but when you get to 80 and 90 and......more58minPlay
