Tales of Assassination of the Aged
News of the Times Episode 347 | 1893 & 1897
Today we look at two cases where the intended victim was of more senior years.
The first case from 1893 is a terrible crime using an axe on the woman running the shop. The police took the case very seriously and managed to trace the suspect to Belgium and extradite him – a feat rather more difficult in Victorian Times. The police and Home Office were unswerving.
The second case from 1897 Ireland caught our attention right away. Seventy some Dennis Kelly is still happily running his farm of 6 acres and lives in his house with his son. The father has taken on some domestic help as his wife has died and he needs help. The son suspects that there is a relationship between the two and that they are planning to cut him out of his inheritance. A highly cruel and torturous murder of a son on his father occurs due to jealous suspicions.
Two Tales of assassination of the aged is toady’s episode of Frightful Fridays.
Hosted by Robin Coles.
