Florent Groberg became a naturalized U.S. Citizen in 2001 after renouncing his French citizenship. He joined the Army in 2008 and in August of 2012 while in Afghanistan, put himself between a suicide bomber and a team he was protecting. His tale of valor certainly is worth a listen!

"A day that will live in infamy..." Out of the attack on Pearl Harbor on December 7, 1941 emerged many tales of valor. Out of those many heroes not all of the stories were known except by those who lived them. One such story about Joseph George surfaced more than 70 years later when two men whose lives George saved provided eyewitness descriptions of their rescue.

Happy holidays from Mike and Dave everyone! While we are on a little Christmas/New Year's break, Dave put together a little "half-history" story about Petty Officer 3rd Class Tyler Gantt, an aviation survival technician at Coast Guard Aviation Training Center Mobile. Gantt was presented the Distinguished Flying Cross by Rear Adm. John Nadeau, commander, Eighth Coast Guard District, at ATC Mobile, Alabama, December 20, 2019.

Gantt's aeronautical skill and heroism were instrumental in the rescue of 59 people during the Coast Guard's response to Hurricane Harvey in 2017.

Robin Williams was very well known for his ongoing and genuine support of the men and women serving abroad in the military. His unique brand of comedy was something that connected with them and was a welcomed diversion to times and places away from their families; something that is easy to take for granted.

After watching an iconic Christmas film classic, "It's a Wonderful Life" we stumbled into the life of the actors, Jimmy Stewart, that extended far deeper than we'd ever known. Stewart, putting his very successful acting career on hold in the early 1940s, served in WW2 and remained in the reserves after and continue his military career into 1966, during the Vietnam War. 

The parallels between the well known lead character in It's a Wonderful Life and Stewart in real life cannot be just coincidence. Grab a drink and listen in on quite a tale of valor, if we do say so ourselves (which we do).

During the Battle of Taku Ghar, Air Force Tech Sgt. John A. Chapman took valiant action in putting himself before others in an intense battle on top of a mountain ridge in Afghanistan. Also known as the Battle of Roberts Ridge, in honor of Navy Seal Neil Roberts, what makes this story unique for us now is that it is the first story of a Medal of Honor recipient caught on arial drone footage.
