Texas is starting to warm up (somewhat, anyway), and so are the spring sports!
In our first episode, we take a look at what lies ahead this spring season and talk to two amazing Texas high school coaches.
First, we chat with Coach Alex Ross, head coach of the Anderson High School girls lacrosse team. Coach Ross shares how she fell in love with the sport while growing up in Minnesota, winning a state title in 2018. She later moved to Texas, bringing that championship mindset with her, leading Anderson to a Division 2 championship. We discuss how lacrosse is growing across the Lone Star State and how many coaches are hoping it will become a UIL-sanctioned sport in the future. Huge thanks to Coach Ross for joining us!
Next, we speak with Coach Riley Fincher, head coach of Pleasant Grove High School baseball. He gives us insight into how his team is competing in early-season tournaments and the benefits of facing top talent from across the state. Pleasant Grove is off to a hot 10-0 start, and we dive into what’s fueling their success heading into March. Coach Fincher also shares how the Texarkana community rallies behind its teams and the special impact of coaching in his hometown. We appreciate Coach Fincher for taking the time to join us!
