In this episode, Jason, Frank, and Bryce discuss why trickers put tricks on a pedestal and why it has such a huge impact on our psychology and progression. Putting tricks on a pedestal can be very motivating, but it comes with a whole host of downsides. Is the act of putting tricks on a pedestal something we even want in our community? Stay tuned to hear our thoughts, and feel free to leave yours down below!
Important video today! We are joined by Tricia Carney to discuss the female experience in tricking, and how to hold ourselves accountable for a less than inclusive culture. If we want to see tricking progress, it is important that we each individually educate ourselves on what we may be doing wrong or right, in order to reinforce the positive behaviors and make tricking a more inclusive community in general. It's a difficult conversation to have but it must be had for the sake of the safety and mental well being of everyone involved in tricking. Hope you guys enjoy
Frank is joined by the Rose City Gathering Crew to talk about the origins of Tricking bounties and the upcoming Rose City Gathering in Oregon. This is definitely going to be a special gathering with unique events and you won’t want to miss it!
Frank and Jason are back in the lab with Alex Hunter! Lots of psychological discussion in this one including fear in tricking and how it relates to progress! We also discuss how you are a product of the era of tricking that you are born into. Enjoy! :)
This week, we decided to hold our first of many live debates about trick theory. This one is for all the trick theory nerds out there. We debate with the one and only Tal Flow about our different models for trick theory and try to poke holes in each other's theories. We hope that above all, this serves as a template for how to talk about trick theory to ensure that we aren’t talking past each other, but rather listening and trying to understand the logic of each person. We had a productive discussion on many topics ranging from fake stances, to rapid and missleg, and even debating whether or not raiz is the root of all tricks. This was a fun one so I hope you guys enjoy it!
Frank and Jason tackle TKT this episode and thoroughly destroy the model with facts and logic. On a real note, TKT does have its benefits and succeeds in certain aspects, but ultimately falls flat when it comes to fixing the true issue in kicking trick theory. An alternative to this model is offered and it is called True intuitive trick science! Let us know what you guys think about the new model down in the comments!
Important topic today! For the first time, we are addressing some tricking drama. Guthrie made a recent post that disappointed us and a big portion of the community. Is this okay? How does this affect newcomers and veterans? Does Guthrie bring up some good points? This is a pretty controversial episode and we really do not hold back so let us know about our analysis of this event. To end off, we only did this episode because we truly think this was important to address to keep the spirit of the community alive, we love you all ♥
Frank and Jason shoot the shit with Alex Hunter! We discuss a range of random topics from what style means to what the future of tricking will look like! Alex Hunter has been a long time staple of the community and has seen the evolution of tricking over almost the past two decades! He imparts valuable wisdom about how to take care of your body for longevity, and also we just talk about random shit, hope you guys enjoy :)
In this episode, Jason and Frank talk to the one and only Kojo about technique! This is a practical topic which us idealist trick theorists tend to stay away from but we decided to give it a shot and learned a lot in the process! It’s no secret that Kojo may be the person who has devoted the most time to thinking about tricking technique and what to do to perfect it. Listen in for some discussions on the fastest way to progress in tricking, how to digest trick tutorials, and what it would be like if you switched brains with Shosei!
Frank and Jason are joined by Malik Shepherd to discuss the infamous Muggleslayer amongst other topics! Malik was the first recorded person to land Muggleslayer, which has been a trick near and dear to this podcast, it was a no brainer to talk to Malik about it. He dissects the trick and offers tips on how to do this forbidden trick! We also talk to him about textbook tricks and his experience producing tricking content.
