Let's Talk About Autism

Talking autism with Dr Emma DeCicco as a clinical psychologist

Listen Later

In this episode, my conversation with Dr Emma DeCicco from The Dash Health Hub continued. She kindy gave insight into her role as a clinical psychologist, and how she is supporting parents with autistic children.

Key Terms:

Identity First Language – Autistic person, not a person with Autism

Neurodiversity Affirming – neurodiversity doesn’t see disorders as fixable, rather it is recognised as a part of life. Neurodiversity umbrella includes but isn’t limited to autistic people and ADHDers. It does not aim to mould neurodivergent people into neurotypical people.

The Dash Health Hub is based in Perth, Western Australia. To learn more about the Hub or to reach out to Dr Emma DeCicco, visit https://www.thedashhub.com.au/

Disclaimer: I'm not a professional, just a student with a passion for autism.
