In this episode Heckle & Jeckle speak with Speech & Language Pathologist Sheree Brisbane.
Sheree works to assess, diagnose, and treat speech, language, cognitive-communication, and swallowing disorders in people with dementia.
Sheree describes Heckle's voice banking like running a 'marathon' due to the work required to save her voice to a device in preparation of not being able to communicate verbally. Jeckle shares her experience of a break in connection whilst drinking water and nearly drowning!
Sheree explains how even the smallest changes in one's ability to swallow can interrupt one's life in a massive way.
Heckle & Jeckle continue to use humour to help them better understand the changes they face. . .and they all agree the "Nosy Cup" needs a new name.
Sheree is an amazing guest and we are thrilled she spent time with us to share her knowledge.
