Principal at Populous, architect Warrick Chalmers is one of the many names behind the delivery of some of the world's most significant sporting and entertainment venues - the MCG and the Margaret Court Arena both in Melbourne, together with GMHBA Stadium in Geelong. The issues, along with the design and delivery is complex, as this interview reveals.

Tom McEvoy is difficult to pigeon hole. He studied photography and film before undertaking a Masters of Fashion at RMIT University. His area of interest is 20th century fashion, including the more well known such as Elvie Hill in the 1950s and '60's to less familiar names such as GHV Thomas - he has photographed more than 3,500 fashion garments through his House of Darlington - a true one of the box.

Artist Natasha Johns-Messenger initially studied fine art at RMIT University with a masters focusing on installation work. With a masters in film from the prestigious Columbia University, she now shares her time between New York and Melbourne. Her installation, a collaboration with architect John Wardle, is presently on display the NGV Ian Potter Gallery.

Interior designer, Director of Bergman & Co, graduated in Interior design from RMIT University, coming to the profession relatively late in her career. Her outstanding table setting at NGV's Art of Dining allowed her to throw 'caution to the wind'. Her practice spreads across hospitality, commercial and domestic projects

DKO is one of Melbourne's largest practices with offices globally. Established 18 years ago by architect Koos de Keijzer, the office is responsible for some of the city's most distinctive landmarks, including the 'Dancing Couple' at Docklands.

Furniture and lighting designer Suzie Stanford worked as an investment banker in London for 10 years before turning her talents to designing furniture and lighting. Initially creating contemporary jewellery for Sir Paul Smith stores around the world, she then went on to stock Libertys and later Lane Crawford in Asia - Suzie is one of Australia's most talented designers!

Architect Oliver du Puy undertook graduate studies at the prestigious Architectural Association in London before working for Si Norman Foster. His years working in Tokyo with leading architects such as Kenga Kuma and Junya Ishigami has set a strong base to establishing his own practice in Melbourne after returning. His latest project the 'Skinny House' in South Yarra shows what can be achieved on a slither of a site.

A graduate in interior design from RMIT University, Danielle Brustman opted to follow a path in stage set design before returning to interior design 8 years ago. Slowly building a reputation, she was recently included as one of 10 designers in the prestigious Rigg award held at the National Gallery of Victoria.

Dr Janneke Blijlevens says there her middle name is 'interdisciplinary'. With degrees in physiology, and in business, she is now Senior Lecturer in Experimental Methods and Design in the School of Economics, Finance & Marketing at RMIT university. Products, be it shoes or sunglasses are designed for a reason, not just by chance!
