Young trainer Lucy Roche joins Barry Drake for a chat this week.

Lucy chats about her exciting first year as a trainer, including competing in the Leger in Limerick and a 2nd place in Cork's Laurels Final with Hazelhill Bucko.

Lucy's grandfather James was her introduction to the sport and it is still very more a team effort between the duo.

As the Laurels gets down to the final stages, Barry chats to Darren Hogan as they run through the Semi-Finals in the 2024 Bar One Racing Irish Laurels. They also discuss the other big events in Cork, including the Bart Leahy Memorial, and look forward to a fantastic night on Saturday 5th October for the Final.

Tuono Charlie is a name that’s been on many people’s lips over recent months and his trainer Sharon Hunt joins Barry this week. Last weekend, he added another title to his CV winning the Irish Cambridgeshire in Limerick and in doing so notched up an incredible 16 wins in a row! Sharon shares his story and how special he is to them….and Barry asks the question everyone wants to ask – chase the record or chase the Derby?

Sharon takes us back to the start of her journey into greyhound training after moving to Ireland in 2010 and how her experience, skills and knowledge have grown over the years. She also shares her very positive experience of the IRGT who have helped her to rehome all of her greyhounds across the world once their racing careers are over.

Limerick Greyhound Track hosted the WillWeGo.com Irish St Leger Final Saturday night. Clonbrien Treaty won the event last year, owned by Jim and Muireann Murphy and trained by Graham Holland, and was favourite to retain the title and bridge a gap that goes back to 1972.

RTE's reporter Mike McCartney travelled to Limerick, where he first spoke to racing manager Jody Thompson, as he was making his final preparations. This interview was broadcasted on Sunday Sport yesterday, in case you missed it listen here!
