Aric Almriola scored his second career victory in Sunday's 1000bulbs.com 500 at Talladega Superspeedway. Almriola and his teammates dominated the event, as SHR cars led 155 of the races 193 laps. The only doubt at victory came near the end when two SHR cars ran out of fuel, resulting in Almriola's second career victory.
Gas also reeked havoc on Brad Keselowski as he ran out coming to the green on the final restart. Keselowski finished in the 27th position - a really big hit to his championship hopes.
Plus Kurt Busch, who ran out of gas on the front stretch coming to the checkered flag was critical of NASCAR's decision to keep the race green after an accident on the final lap. Chase Elliott and Matt DiBenedetto (among others) wrecked and NASCAR kept the race green to ensure a good finish for the fans. Did they get it right? We'll talk about it.
Plus, Timothy Peters won the NASCAR Camping World Truck Series race at Talladega on Saturday. It was his 11th career victory in the series. Peters has no races left of his schedule this season and it could very well be his final victory in the series. We'll talk about it.
Also, Ryan Reed and Lily Diabetes are leaving Roush Fenway Racing at the end of the season. Reed, who currently sits 12th in the NASCAR XFINITY Series standings. He is in his fifth full season with the organization and will no longer be around. What does this mean for RFR's future in the series? We'll give our takes.
